PM Modi Announces 1 Crore Internships, 90,000 German Visas for Indian Youth at Rozgar Mela
Under the Internship Yojana, interns will receive Rs 5,000 monthly in India’s top 500 companies, preparing young professionals with essential skills over the next five years.
During the Rozgar Mela, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched initiatives to boost career opportunities for India’s youth, announcing a target of 1 crore internships under the Pradhan Mantri Internship Yojana and increased job prospects abroad. More than 51,000 appointment letters were handed out at the event, showcasing the government's commitment to employment.
Under the Internship Yojana, interns will receive Rs 5,000 monthly in India’s top 500 companies, preparing young professionals with essential skills over the next five years. Modi also highlighted Germany’s recent Skilled Workforce Strategy, which will boost annual skilled visas for Indian workers from 20,000 to 90,000, alongside expanded migration agreements with countries like the UK, Australia, France, and Japan. These efforts aim to strengthen India’s presence in the global workforce, while generating millions of domestic jobs through infrastructure and industrial development.
PM Modi highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Internship Yojana, a program offering paid internships in India’s top 500 companies. "Our target is to provide one crore youth with internship opportunities over the next five years," he said. Under this initiative, each intern will receive Rs 5,000 per month, allowing young Indians hands-on experience in various sectors and preparing them for a competitive job market.
Additionally, Modi underscored the government’s focus on facilitating job opportunities for Indians overseas. Recently, Germany announced a Skilled Workforce Strategy for India, significantly increasing its annual skilled visas for Indian professionals from 20,000 to 90,000. Modi highlighted similar migration agreements with countries such as the UK, Australia, France, Japan, and Israel. "Our youth will benefit greatly as these initiatives open doors to global careers, contributing not just to India’s progress but to the world," he said.
The Prime Minister also spoke on the government's investment in infrastructure and skill development initiatives like Skill India, which are creating employment across sectors. Through initiatives in road, rail, port, and pipeline construction, he said, millions of new jobs have been created nationwide, aiding India’s transformation into a global economic leader.
