A total of 40,721 RRB Group D vacancies have been announced for Track Maintainer Grade IV post. The highest number of vacancies have been announced for Track Maintainer Grade IV.

RRB Group D recruitment is conducted to select eligble candidates for various Level 1 posts. The vacancies for RRB Group D have been announced for the following railway zones:

Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite medical fitness test which is conducted by the railway administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates.

In case of two or more candidates secure same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria i.e., older person is placed at higher merit and in case age being same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name is taken into account to break the tie.

Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PET, candidates are selected for document verification as per their merit and options.

The General Awareness syllabus of RRB Group D comprises current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance.

RRB Group D Science syllabus cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of the 10th standard level (CBSE). 

RRB Group D syllabus for General Intelligence and Reasoning comprises topics such as Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, etc. 

RRB Group D CBT Exam has minimum qualifying marks. To qualify, applicants belonging to General EWS category must secure at least 40 per cent in the exam.

RRB Group D syllabus for Maths comprises Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc. 

There is a negative marking for incorrect answers in the CBT.1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question are deducted for wrong answer.

RRBs will use the percentile score inorder to determine RRB Group D merit list for the Phase 1 exam. The performance of all candidates who took the exam for a shift is calculated to determine the percentage score. The scores obtained by each candidate for each shift will be transformed into a scale from 100 to 0.

There are maximum 2,93,943 vacancies available in Indian Railways. RRBs have recruited a total of 1,51,900 posts in three years. 

RRBs will soon initiate the fee refund process for RRB Group D exam. Candidates belonging to SC / ST/ ExSM/ PwBD/ Female/ Minority/EBC/Transgender categories will be entitled to get a full refund of their examination fees, which is INR 250. Whereas candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC categories receive a partial refund of their examination fees, which is INR 400 after deducting the bank charges.

The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. The General Awareness section was moderate, General Science section was moderate, Maths section was moderate, General Intelligence and Reasoning section was moderate.

CCAAs trained in railway establishment will be given due weightage of marks obtained in their NCVT exam in preparation of final merit list after the conduct of CBT. CCAAs are also exempted from Physical Efficiency Test (PET) since they are already trained in the railway establishments and meet the physical standard required for performing their jobs. The empanellment of candidates to the post of Railway Group D will be done only after document verification and qualifying the medical standards.

RRBs will give relaxation to transgender candidates in PET. The physical standards of transgender candidates will be treated as per female candidates. Earlier, their physical standards were treated as male candidates. The gender given in the online application may be used for giving relaxation in PET. Their transgender status will be verified later at the time of medical exam. This relaxation will be applicable in future too.

The candidates who had completed their High School (Class 10) from an institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or held National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) provided by NCVT are eligible to apply for RRB Group D Recruitment Exam.

The selection process for various Group D posts will include three stages as below:

• Computer-Based Test (CBT-1)
• Physical Efficiency Test
• Medical/Document Verification

RRB Group D notification was released on March 12, 2019 to recruit candidates for various level 1 posts. Total 1,03,769 vacancies for the posts of Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant, Assistant Pointsman, Level-I posts were announced.

'Base Shift' is defined as a shift having the 'Highest Mean' (Average) among all the Shifts of CBT with a condition that its 'Present Candidate Count' should be 70 per cent or more than the average of all Shifts. In case the 'Highest Mean' of two Shifts is the same then shift having 'Highest Individual Marks' is considered as 'Base Shift'. In case both the 'Highest Mean' and 'Highest Individual Marks' are the same then the Shift having 'Highest Present Candidate Count' will be considered as 'Base Shift' to break the tie.

RRB Group D basic salary is INR 18,000 per month after 7th Pay Commission. Apart from the salary, candidates are also given additional allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), Daily Allowance, Transport Allowance, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Allowance for Night Duty, Medical Facilities, Overtime Allowance etc. The in-hand salary of RRB Group Posts is INR 22,500-INR 25,380 per month.

RRB Group D 2022 exam was conducted from August 17 to October 11. The Phase 1 exam was conducted from Phase 1 exam from August 17 to 25 for RRC Hajipur, Secunderabad, Mumbai (Western Railway). The phase 2 exam was conducted from August 26 to September 8 for RRCs-North Central Railway (Allahabad), North Western Railway (Jaipur), South East Central Railway (Bilaspur), South Eastern Railway (Kolkata), and West Central Railway (Jabalpur). The Phase 3 exam was conducted from September 8 to 19 for RRCs-East Coast Railway (Bhubaneswar), Northeast Frontier Railway (Guwahati), Northern Railway (New Delhi), Southern Railway (Chennai). RRBs conducted RRB Group D Phase 4 2022 exam from September 19 to October 7 for Central Railway (Mumbai), Eastern Railway (Kolkata) and North Eastern Railway (Gorakhpur). The Phase 5 exam was conducted from October 6 and 11 for RRC South Western Railway (Hubli). 

RRB Group D PET will be conducted from January 3, 2023 followed by document verification.

RRB Group D merit list for CBT will be prepared based on the marks secured in the exam as well as the percentile score.

The document verification of RRB Group D is expected to be conducted in February 2023. Final appointment of candidates will be done by March/April 2023.

Recently, RRB Group D notice was released regarding the revised marking scheme wherein RRBs have decided that to interpolate the raw marks into the base shift. This means the percentile score of each candidate will be converted into normalised marks by inserting the raw marks into the base shift.
