RRB NTPC

RRB NTPC 2020 Tier-I exam is likely to be replaced by Common Eligibility Test (CET). National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will conduct CET separately for Graduate, Class 12, Class 10 pass non-technical Group B and C posts.

Recently, Union Cabinet has approved the setting up of NRA. The agency will have representatives from the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The test will be conducted online comprising of the standard curriculum. Currently, candidates need to appear for multiple exams conducted by various authorities. CET will save time and costs as candidates need to appear for only one exam.

Here, we have discussed the changes that CET will bring in the RRB NTPC exam.

NRA aims to shortlist candidates for Group B and C Non-Technical posts in Central Government. Railway Recruitment Boards conduct RRB NTPC Exam for the recruitment of Non-Technical Popular Categories Graduate and Undergraduate Posts. Therefore, the Tier-I exam of this recruitment will be conducted by NRA.

NRA will be conducted under three levels: Graduate, Class 12 and Class 10. RRB NTPC is conducted for graduate and undergraduate posts. So separate CETs will be conducted for graduate and undergraduate posts.

CET will replace the Tier-I exam for non-technical posts. RRB NTPC recruitment process includes 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable), and Document Verification/Medical Examination. So, only 1st Stage CBT is likely to be replaced by NRA through CET. The test will comprise multiple choice objective type questions. Based on the CET score, the selection will be made through separate specialised Tier-II/Tier-III exams conducted by Railway Recruitment Boards.

The standard curriculum will be followed in CET and difficulty level will be according to the educational standards prescribed for the posts: graduate, higher secondary and matriculation.

CET will be conducted twice in a year in multiple languages for RRB NTPC. The exam is conducted in 15 different languages which are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

The score of CET will be valid for three years. The best available score of candidates for three years will be considered the current score for RRB NTPC recruitment.
