UGC NET Exam to be Conducted on June 18; Check Changes in NTA NTA NET 2024

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC NET exam 2024 on June 18, 2024. The candidates appearing for the exam must check the latest changes done by the NTA and UGC (University Grants Commission). Check the latest updates in the UGC NET 2024 exam in the article.

UGC NET 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC NET 2024 exam on June 18, 2024, for 83 subjects in two shifts. The candidates must check the latest changes in the UGC NET exam by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and NTA. The UGC NET exam for the June cycle exam will be conducted in pen and paper mode (OMR). Earlier, the NTA UGC NET exam was being conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode.

Prior to this,  the UGC NET pen-paper mode exam was discontinued in 2019, when the exam conducting authority was changed from CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) to NTA (National Testing Agency). The UGC NET paper 1 and paper 2 will be conducted for 3 hours and no breaks will be provided between the two papers. 

Check the Latest Changes in the UGC NET Exam 2024 

The candidates can check the latest updates by the UGC and NTA below:

  • The UGC NET 2024 exam will be conducted in pen-paper mode (OMR) for both papers. The CBT mode will be discontinued from the NTA UGC NET June cycle 2024
  • The normalisation of the UGC NET marks will be discontinued from the NTA UGC NET June cycle 2024
  • The UG candidates with four-year UG courses can apply for the UGC NET JRF exam and the candidates who will secure 75% marks can enroll themselves in PhD
  • The UGC NET marks can be used for admission in PhD and no more separate entrance exams will be conducted by the universities for admission in PhD. The UGC NET marks will be categorised into three sections:
    • Category 1:  Candidates qualified with JRF will be eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship, Appointment as Assistant Professors, and Enrollment as PhD scholar. 
    • Category 2: Candidates qualified for UGC NET will be eligible for Assistant Professorship and admission as PhD scholar 
    • Category 3: Based on the marks obtained by the candidates, the candidates will be allowed in the universities as a  PhD scholar

Note: The candidates from Category 2 & 3 will have to go through an interview by the Universities to enroll as a PhD scholar. 70 per cent weightage will be given to the NET score and 30 per cent marks will be based on the interview.
