AMU's Women's College celebrates Chandrayaan-3 Utsav

The Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University organized week-long programmes to celebrate the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar surface of the South Pole of the Moon.

The celebrations concluded with a ‘Street-Play’ (Nukkad-Natak) by the students of Women’s College on the theme “India’s Journey to Moon”. The play was presented with engaging dialogues and catchy scenes. The performance focused on highlighting India’s efforts to touch the lunar surface. Along with the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3, the scenes portrayed the efforts of ISRO during the launchings of Chandrayaan-1 and 2 as well.

The convener of the programme, Dr. Sadaf Fareed said that our country has created history with the landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the moon.

The celebrations of Chandrayaan-3 Utsav started on September 15 2023 with an ‘essay-writing competition’ on the theme “New Flight of India”. The results of the competition will be announced later on.

The second competition in the series was a quiz competition- “Quiztellation: A Space Quiz”. Ms. Juveria Rahman was the Quiz Master for the competition and the event was judged by Dr. Lucky Khan and Dr. Lubna Irfan.

Eleven teams, each with three students, participated in the event and only 6 teams qualified for the mains round of the quiz. The mains round was based on a pounce and bounce system. After 11 rounds of questions, the team ‘Stellar’ with participants from BSc. Statistics - Riya Chaudhary, Bushra Rasheed and Fareha Rizvi emerged as the Winners. The second position was bagged by team ‘Cassini’ which consisted of Anusha Munawwar, a student of B.A. Psychology, Afifa Jamal and Farah Naaz, students of B.Sc. Physics. The third position was secured by team ‘Zenith’ with participant Deeksha Varshney, a student of BSc. Physics, Deeksha Singh and Unnati Nagar, students of B.A. History.
