Assam Agriculture University likely to cancel VET 2020 due to COVID-19 risk, online application begins

Assam Agriculture University may not be conducting the Veterinary Entrance Test (VET) 2020 owing to the risk of COVID-19 pandemic. The University has begun the online application process for all undergraduate courses from August 1 onwards. Candidates can apply for their respective course before August 20, 2020. The Assam Agriculture University VET is conducted for 300 seats of BVSc and Animal Husbandary courses offered at the College of Veterinary  Science, Guwahati and, Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Sciences.

The university informs, "The Entrance test may be waived off due to COVID‐19 pandemic, subject to clearance by the VCI"

Assam Agriculture University Admissions 2020 will be done on the basis of merit scores in the qualifying examination if the entrance exam is cancelled. The eligibility criteria for the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry course is as under: 

• A candidate under General category for admission to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry degree course shall have to qualify in each of the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and obtained 50% marks in aggregate of these subjects, at the qualifying examination and admission of students to BVSc and AH course shall be made only on the basis of his or her merit in the competitive entrance examination and no other merit or weightage shall be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry degree course.
• candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe or other special categories of students as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required for admission shall be 5% less than that prescribed for general category i.e 47.5% and where the seats reserved for the Scheduled Caste and the  Scheduled Tribes students in any State cannot be filled for want of a requisite number of candidates fulfilling the minimum requirement prescribed from that state,  then such vacancies shall be filled up on All India basis with students belonging to the Scheduled  Caste and the  Scheduled Tribes obtaining not less than the minimum prescribed pass percentage. 
• The candidates should between 17 years to 25 years of age at the time of admission. Those belonging to SC/ST/OBC category will be allowed 5 years of relaxation in the age limit.
