Assam University offers graduation degrees to ex-servicemen

Assam University collaborated with the Directorate of Sainik Welfare Assam on Tuesday to offer graduation degrees to ex-servicemen, officials said.

The MoU with the central varsity will be one of the most beneficial welfare measures for the ex-servicemen in their rehabilitation, said Defence spokesperson Lt Col Mahender Rawat.

“The aim is to empower our ex-servicemen who dedicated a large part of their youth with unflinching dedication and devotion to duty while missing out in obtaining civil education,” he said in a statement, as reported by The Print.

“They are conversant in modern technology and are good in administration. The award of the UGC recognised graduation degree will empower the ex-servicemen to prove their skill and capability in their re-employment also,” he added.

The agreement between Assam University, Silchar and the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, represents a crucial welfare measure for ex-servicemen, facilitating their rehabilitation and integration into civilian life. Moreover, it will render ex-servicemen eligible for various job opportunities, leveraging the 2% reservation quota sanctioned by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Assam University: Applications open for PG Course - MA in French, Certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma Courses

The last date to apply for PG Course - MA in French is October 10, 2023, and for Certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma Courses, it is October 20, 2023.

For online applications, the candidates need to pay INR 1000 (for General and OBC students), INR 900 for (OBC-Non-Creamy Layer/EWS) and INR 800 for SC/ST/PwD students) through online portal.
