It will be a two-credit qualifying course to be offered in each semester, said the official notification. The VC said that this course will definitely prove phenomenal in dissemination of traditional Indian knowledge rooted in scientific evidences.
The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh has launched a two-credit Value-added course on Valmiki Ramayan. The generic value-added course will be offered in odd and even semesters to develop the understanding of Ramayan and its significance among the students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor observed that the course titled “Scientific Evidence in Valmiki Ramayan” is a significant breakthrough in the direction of orienting the students about the richness and relevance of Indian knowledge tradition. He introduced the course to be conducted by the Department of Physics and Astrophysics.
The two-credit course will be of qualifying nature. The salient features of the course include—material containing astronomical references; scientific pattern of the cultural artefacts, weapons and practices; scientific relevance of ecological sources; geographical and scientific evidences related to Ram Setu; and similar other references establishing the usefulness of Ramayan in present context.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said that the main aim of this course is to sensitise the students about various scientific evidences in Valmiki Ramayan, and to help them appreciate the classical text as an equally important reference source for the students of sciences, humanities and other disciplines even in the modern context.
The Vice Chancellor shared that this course will definitely prove phenomenal in dissemination of traditional Indian knowledge rooted in scientific evidences.
