COVID-19: Universities in Mysuru to work with district administration to create awareness

The University of Mysore and Karnataka State Open University has come forward to help district administration of Mysuru in its fight against COVID-19. They have formed teams of academic experts to create awareness about the novel coronavirus.

Two state-run universities in Mysuru have formed teams to help the district administration in its effort to create awareness about novel coronavirus and steps to be taken to avoid its spread. The team comprises of expert academicians from the universities.

The University of Mysore (UoM) team is headed by its medical officer Dr. MS Basavaraj comprising of academicians from various departments. R Shivappa, University registrar said that academicians from various science departments have been nominated as the member of the committee. This committee will help district administration for all work related to coronavirus.

The committee also includes two paramedical staff of the university medical center. 

The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has also formed a committee which will be headed by Jagadeesh Babu HK, Head of Department, Public Administration. 

We have to work together if we want to reduce the number of positive coronavirus cases in the country. To create awareness about COVID-19 and preventive measures that need to be taken to avoid its spread, we have formed a team comprising of 20 teaching and non-teaching staff. The team will help district administration, medical staff, and police with their work. We are also ready to extend all possible help to needy including food, clothing if required, Jagadeesh Babu said.

The online registration process for those who want to volunteer for this cause has also been started by the district administration. The administration has also sought Health Professionals, Trained Paramedics, Hospital Management Experts, Palliative Care, Motivational Speakers, Software Developers, Digital content creator to help district administration in its war against the COVID-19.
