CUET 2023 Candidates From J&K Urge LG to Allot Centres Within UT

CUET 2023 candidates from Jammu & Kashmir have urged the Lieutenant Governor (LG) to allot centres within the Union Territory, instead of cities of Punjab. CUET 2023 admit card for Phase 4, dated June 5 to June 8 was released on June 2. A number of candidates from J&K have stated that their CUET 2023 centre has been assigned in Jalandhar or Amritsar, Punjab, creating inconvenience for them.

On Tuesday, several CUET 2023 candidates from the Ramban district urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the matter so that their exam centres get allocated in or near the Union Territory instead of Punjab. The LG has cited financial issues and other constraints faced by candidates upon allocation of exam centres in Punjab.

Earlier, Sinha had met with the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss about this issue. This led to postponement of the CUET 2023 exam in J&K. Notably, NTA has also extended the exam till June 11 owing to an increased number of applications in certain cities. The CUET 2023 city slips and admit cards for this phase are expected to be released in a day or two.

J&K candidates also took to Twitter to express their concerns. Take a look at couple of Tweets below.

As many as 87,309 unique registrations have been received from J&K. CUET 2023 was postponed to begin from May 26 onwards, instead of May 21, in order to set up exam centres within the UT. The fourth phase of CUET UG 2023 commenced yesterday, June 5. In the first three phases, NTA has recorded 72 per cent attendance. Around 15 lakh candidates have applied for the exam.

CUET 2023 is the gateway to undergraduate course admission to 250 universities across India. The participating institutes are categorised into Central Universities, State Universities, Deemed Universities, Private Universities and Other Universities or institutes.
