Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) will adopt the hybrid format allowing candidates to take exams at a centre near their home. OMR sheet adaptability for subjects with higher registrations will lead to conducting the exam on a single day for a particular subject.
In a significant shift, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) 2024 will undergo a transformation. The exam will be held in hybrid mode. The exam is set to be conducted online as well as offline from exam centres. This development will help rural candidates take the exam near to their homes. This step will be taken to benefit the rural population where candidates would have to travel to a far location to access the infrastructure required for the computer-based CUET exam.
NTA will conduct CUET UG 2024 from May 15 to May 31, 2024, the exam will witness a substantial change in the exam pattern. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), announced that subjects experiencing a high registration volume will be conducted using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets instead of the traditional computer-based test format.
NTA is expected to start the CUET UG registration on February 19, 2024. All details regarding the change of the exam pattern, reduction of the subject choices will be out with the CUET 2024 notification.
UGC Chairman also stated the need for accommodating the diverse needs of candidates, therefore, conducting the exam in three shifts from 9 am to 11 am, 12.30 pm to 2 pm, and 4 pm to 5.30 pm. This flexible shift timing aims to provide ease in taking the exam for participants across various time zones.

CUET UG 2024 Pattern Change: Subject Choices Reduced
In an attempt to simplify the examination procedure, the number of subjects for CUET UG will be reduced from 10 to 6. This decision is an outcome of the technical challenges faced in managing a large number of registrations for numerous subjects, particularly in releasing the answer key promptly.
UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar emphasised the importance of adapting to the evolving landscape of education and ensuring a seamless exam experience for all aspirants. The transition to a hybrid CUET UG exam and reduction in the subject choices reflect a commitment to address practical challenges and maintaining the criticality of the CUET UG 2024.
