CUET UG 2024 Likely in Pen Paper Mode for 12 Subjects with Over 100k Registrations; Check Details

NTA will conduct CUET UG 2024 for the first time in hybrid mode from May 15 to 31, 2024 where schools, colleges and other educational institutes, without large numbers of computers, will be used as CUET 2024 exam centres. 

CUET UG 2024

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Admission (CUET UG) between May 15 to 31, 2024. Reportedly, as many as 12 subjects that have more than 1,00,000 registrations will be conducted in offline mode (pen-paper-based test mode), says Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar, in an interview with Doordarshan (DD National) at DD Morning Show. 

CUET 2024 Exam Mode

The CUET 2024 exam will be held in hybrid mode where subjects with less than 1,00,000 registrations will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode. This step has been taken in order to make schools, colleges and other institutes, without numerous computer facilities, the exam centres for the CUET 2024 exam. 

Each candidate is eligible to register for up to six subjects. Reportedly, This year CUET UG will be held for 29 core subjects, 33 language papers and one general test paper. 

CUET 2024 Statistics 

As per the statistics, more than 13.4 lakh candidates have enrolled for CUET UG 2024 out of which 7,17,000 are male and 6,30,000 are female candidates, as reported by Hindustan Times.  

English subject has received the highest registration with over 10,00,000 candidates, followed by general test (830,000), chemistry (700,000), physics (680,000), mathematics (490,000), biology (390,000), economics (214,000) and so on. 

List of Subjects will be Announced Soon 

"NTA is analysing the registration details and subjects with large registrations like the general test, English, physics, chemistry, maths, Hindi, biology and other such subjects are expected to be conducted in OMR mode. However, the final list of papers, that will be conducted in OMR mode, will be announced by NTA shortly." Kumar said. 

With the help of hybrid mode, NTA is likely to involve institutions, without large numbers of computers, as exam centres for CUET 2024. 

β€œThis year the testing agency will use schools, colleges and other educational institutions as CUET UG exam centres, unlike earlier when only centres equipped with a large number of computers were used.” he further quoted.
