Delhi University Hikes Annual Fees by 46%; Details Here

Delhi University has once again increased the annual fees. This time, the fees have been hiked by 46%, amounting to INR 2,350 across various categories.

Earlier on June 7, 2023, Delhi University released an official circular to notify that the university has increased facility and service expenses to INR 1000 effective for the academic year 2023-24. Moreover, charges for student welfare funds have doubled to INR 200, and development fund charges have increased by over 10% to INR 1,000 from the revised INR 900 in June of the previous year.

Some teachers allege that this move is an attempt to use students' funds to repay the interest on loans from the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA). The HEFA approved a loan of INR 930 crore in October this year.

The fees were increased for the second time in a year, with the last one announced in July 2022, which was increased for the first time in 13 years.
