TIFR has asked not to upload photos or videos of the institute.
The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Mumbai has issued a diktat asking its employees and their families to not upload content that might be termed “anti-government”. TIFR has asked not to upload photos or videos of the institute.
The letter also desists employees from posting anti-government posts on social media platforms. The letter issued by the TIFR Registrar states that the institute had been informed by the Department of Atomic Energy that Central agencies had noticed that DAE employees had been posting photos and videos of offices and facilities on social media.
TIFR is a deemed university and a national centre under the Department of Atomic Energy, which undertakes research in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science and science education.
The Institute in receipt of a communication from DAIS whereby it has been informed that the central agencies have noticed that DAE employees (including the constituent units and Als) and their family members have been posting photographs, videos of DAIS offices and facilities on Facebook / WhatsApp and other social media platforms.\
“It has also been noticed that certain disgruntled employees have been sharing Anti-Government content over social media. These activities have been red-flagged by the agencies and the department,” reads the letter.
In view of the above, Staff members of the Institute arc requested to refrain from uploading any photographs or videos related to the Institute. it's Centres and Field stations, Residential Colonies or any other Government property. over social media platforms, as the same could lead to serious security consequences,” reads the letter.
Staff members are also informed to desist from uploading any anti-government content over social media, family members too should be appraised about the same.
