As many as 144 new undergraduate seats will be created from the next admission cycle for (BSc) Honors in Environmental Studies.
The Delhi University (DU) will be offering Bachelor in Science (BSc) Honors in Environmental Studies from the next academic year. As many as six colleges under the varsity have given their nod to implement the course, as per an officialโs statement. The University Grants Commission (UGC) had earlier given a nod to the course.
Each college will be offering at least 24 to a maximum of 32 seats for the course. As many as 144 new undergraduate seats will be created from the next admission cycle.
The department presently offers masters and PhD programmes only.
Admission to BSc (Hons) Environmental Science
Admission to most of the undergraduate courses at the University is based on cut-off marks wherein โbest of fourโ marks of Class 12th subjects are considered. In the admission process for honours courses, one of the best 4 subjects includes a major. But, this might not be possible in case of BSc (Hons) Environmental Studies as most schools do not offer the subject at the school level. Schools under CBSE do not have Environmental Science (EVS) as an elective subject in Class 12.
About the course
BSc (Hons) Environmental Science will be a three-year course, having 140 credits spread over 26 papers. Students will have to pass 8 electives and 4 ability-enhancement courses, out of which, two will be skill enhancement papers in the entire six-semester duration, as per UGC guidelines.
