IIT JAM 2024 Online Registrations to Start From September 5; Know Eligibility Criteria & Important Dates

IIT Madras will soon invite the candidates to register online for the IIT JAM 2024 application forms. IIT Madras, the examination conducting body for JAM 2024 for the academic cycle 2024-2025 has released the online poster for the IIT JAM 2024 examination. The online application form will be available for the candidates to fill out from September 5, 2023. IIT Madras has also released the other important examination dates, participating institutes for this year's academic session and many more. IIT JAM 2024 Updates: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras will conduct the Joint admission test for Masters (JAM) 2024. IIT JAM 2024 will be conducted for admission to postgraduate programmes in participating institutes on February 11, 2024. Aspirants who had already completed an undergraduate degree (BSc) or are currently studying in the final year of undergraduate programmes are eligible to apply for the exam.

IIT JAM 2024 is open to all nationals (Indian/Foreign) and there is no age restriction. Test takers who are interested in pursuing their master's degree from renowned institutions like IITs and NIT's can visit the official website of IIT JAM 2024 and fill up the IIT JAM 2024 Application form. The online application portal will be opened for a period of around a month. The last date for filling up the online application form for MSc Courses will be October 13, 2023.

IIT JAM 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Prior to filling the IIT JAM 2024 application form, aspirants must ensure that they fulfil the IIT JAM 2024 eligibility criteria.

• In order to fulfil the IIT JAM 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree. 
• Candidates who had appeared or will appear for their graduation exams in 2024 are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the proof by September 2024.
• For the admission process, candidates who would pass the IIT JAM 2024 exam will be eligible to apply for the admission process.

Till the year 2021, the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM stated that candidates should secure a minimum 55 per cent aggregate or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates and 50 per cent aggregate or 5.0 CGPA/CPI for the reserved category candidates. However, from 2022 onwards, this criterion was relaxed. Now, applicants will have to get a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, and no eligibility cutoff is there. 

Besides the proof for minimum educational qualification, candidates also need to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admissions. Candidates found unfit to pursue his/her Science course can be denied admission by the admitting institute.

Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) is an all-India level online entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) every year on a rotational basis on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. IIT JAM is conducted to provide admission to candidates in MSc and other postgraduate courses offered at IITs and integrated PhD courses offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Several National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) also accept JAM scores for MSc admissions.
