The JEST 2023 for the year has been conducted today in one slot in over 38 cities across India. SERB, the examination conducting body organised the examination in one session from 3 pm to 6 pm. JEST is a screening test for admission to PhD and Int. PhD programme of different participating institutes in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science, Neuroscience or Computational Biology. The JEST examination is conducted for two subjects only, namely, physics and theoretical computer science. However, the qualifications for admission to the PhD and Int. PhD programme in various participating institutes are different.

JEST 2023 Exam Analysis
JEST 2023 examination was found to be easy to moderate by some of the candidates who have appeared in the examination, while many found it moderate to difficult. The majority of the candidates found the examination level to be moderate. It was observed that the maximum number of questions that were asked in the examination was of master's or post-graduate level. JEST 2023 examination had many questions which were asked from quantum mechanics and wave optics. Other domains from which the questions were asked are the hamiltonian air perturbation matrix, lagrangian concept, magnetic field, electric field, and flux. Some direct questions were also asked from the virtual ground concept.
JEST 2023 Exam Pattern Changed
It was found that the JEST examination pattern changed this year. From the previous year’s trend, the JEST 2023 examination had multiple choice questions and numerical answer type questions. Also, three marks were awarded for the right answer and one mark was deducted for the incorrect answer. JEST 2023 examination has 2 sections and NAT sections were not there. Both sections had different marking schemes. JEST 2023 marking scheme is also changed. This year the maximum mark for the examination is 300 marks while last year it was 100 marks.

The Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is conducted jointly by several premier institutes such as IISc, IISERs, NISER, etc. JEST is a screening test for admission to PhD and Int.
