JMI PhD student selected for World Para Badminton Championship 2024

The World Para Badminton Championship 2024 will be held in Pattaya, Thailand from February 20 to February 25, 2024.

JMI PhD student selected for World Para Badminton Championship 2024

Munna Khalid, a PhD student of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has been selected for the World Para Badminton Championship 2024. The World Para Badminton Championship 2024 will be held in Pattaya, Thailand from February 20 to February 25, 2024. A total of 32 players can participate in this championship on the basis of their world ranking and Khalid has been selected by the Badminton World Federation on this basis.

In December 2023, Munna Khalid won the bronze medal in Khelo India Para Games 2023. The competition was held at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi. The competition was organized for the first time by the Sports Authority of India, Government of India.

Khalid is the only badminton player from Delhi who has brought glory to Delhi as well as the country in Para Badminton and he has now become the only player from Delhi to be selected in the World Championship.

Khalid's dream is to bring medals and laurels for the country in the upcoming Asian Games and Paralympics. Khalid is currently pursuing PhD in Hindi Literature from JMI. Earlier, he also completed his B.Sc (Hons.), M.S.W and M.A Hindi from JMI. 

Parsoli Corporation owner Zafar Sareshwala visits JMI

Parsoli Corporation owner Zafar Sareshwala received a warm welcome from the acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Eqbal Hussain and the Deans of Faculties of Studies in Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI). Zafar Sareshwala is a renowned businessman and entrepreneur who has carved a niche in the world of commerce. A mechanical engineer by training and an expert in Islamic Banking and Finance has also been the former Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.

Thanking the Vice Chancellor for the warm reception accorded to him and his wife in JMI, Zafar Sareshwala spoke of the need to foreground education for the Muslim community and drew attention to the importance of dialogue in the event of conflicts in human affairs. He observed that education plays a most pivotal role in shaping the destiny of humankind. He spoke about the initiatives that need to be taken to provide skill oriented training to the youth of the nation to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
