Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student goes on indefinite strike at the main campus gate accusing the administration of their indolent behaviour against her sexual harassment complaint. Two former students among four have been accused of sexual harassment on March 31.

The chief proctor's office received the sexual harassment complaint late at night on March 31. The complainant told the officials that the alleged incident happened while she was taking a walk near JNU Ring Road at 2 AM with her male friend.

"The accused followed me and my friend in a car and allegedly harassed her." The male friend said.

"It has been more than 30 hours since I first filed the complaint and no action has been taken yet. My friends and I have been at the administration, leaving our classes, demanding justice, and doing all we can, while the perpetrators are roaming freely." She told PTI.

The university, however, said it was going as per the due process and they also have to allow the accused to present their defence.

Meanwhile, the complainant raised her safety concerns as the accused who harassed her resides in the same hostel.

"I am expected to go into the same hostel, the same corridors, the same mess, to face that person who has caused me such mental harassment," she further added.

The complainant demanded the suspension of one of the accused from Sabarmati Hostel and steps to ensure her and her friends' safety. She further demands quick redressal of her complaint and punishes the culprits at the earliest.
