European Space Agency award is given to young scientists who promote sustainable use of space.

JSSS, JMI felicitate its alumna European Space Agency Awardee Esha

JMI organised a special program β€œUdaan” was organized today at Jamia Senior Secondary School (JSSS), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) to felicitate its proud alumna Ms. Esha who was honored with the European Space Agency (ESA) Award, the first Indian woman under the age of thirty.

After completing her schooling from JSSS, Esha completed her Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, JMI in the year 2013.

ESA awarded the Space Sustainability Award 2021 (2021) in the ”Special Mission of Jury” category at the European Inter parliamentary Space Conference (EISC). The award ceremony was held at the French Parliament. This award is given to young scientists who promote sustainable use of space. This award is also a platform for a young scientist to present his ideas.

Presently, Esha is working as a Research Associate in the Department of Component Development, Leibniz, Institute of Composite Materials GmbH, Germany. After completing her B.Tech from JMI, she did consultancy service for one and a half years and then moved to Singapore to pursue a master degree in aerospace from Nying Technological University and Technical University Munich. 

His father, Dr. Anil Kumar, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Hindi, JMI.

In his welcome address Principal of JSSS, Dr. Muhammad Arshad Khan congratulated Esha on her great achievement and hoped that it will motivate other students of the university to dream big and work hard to achieve it. In addition, he also highlighted the aims and objectives of β€œUdaan”, a unique programme to felicitate the proud alumni of the school.

Mr. Irfan Khan, founder of IDI Design Private Limited and alumni of Jamia Senior Secondary School, was the Chief Guest of the program. In his address he said that the students should work hard to improve their hidden talents and should choose their field of interest as a career.

The program ended with a vote of thanks by Coordinator of the program, Dr. Attaur Rahman, PGT Chemistry, JSSS.
