Mangalore University to launch three new industry-ready courses

These are MSc (cyber security), MSc integrated course in electronics, and a diploma in hostel management. The department of electronics has brought together the first two of these three courses.

The academic council of Mangalore University at its first special meeting for the academic year 2019-20 approved three industry-oriented academic courses, in line with the vision of vice-chancellor P S Yadapadithaya’s. Keeping in sync with vice-chancellor P S Yadapadithaya’s vision to offer industry-oriented academic courses, the academic council of Mangalore University at its first special meeting for academic year 2019-20 approved three such new courses. These are MSc (cyber security), MSc integrated course in electronics, and a diploma in hostel management. The department of electronics has brought together the first two of these three courses.

External industry experts were roped in as special invitees to finalise it. This was one of the highlights of these courses. Also, it is also important to know that the department of electronics and a committee headed by T N Shreedhar, dean, commerce faculty designed it. Yadapadithaya has been underlining on the necessity for all branches to revise the syllabus annually. He had also advocated that this exercise be carried out in discussion with these special invitees to make it current and industry-specific.

The five years MSc integrated course in electronics provides lateral exit and entry patterns for the programme. This is open to students who have cleared their second PUC with students exiting at the end of first year getting a diploma in electronics, at the end of second year advanced diploma, at the end of the third year BSc in electronics, and end of fourth year BSc (Hons) in electronics.

A student at the end of the fifth year will get an integrated MSc (electronics) degree. Students can also join in the third semester to earn a diploma in electronics, fifth semester advanced diploma in electronics, seventh semester BSc in electronics and ninth semester for BSc (Hon) in electronics.
