The Punjab government has announced to release INR 49 crore for the construction of hostels in Punjab University, read here for more information.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the state government will soon release nearly INR 49 crore for the construction of a boys’ hostel and the expansion of a girls’ hostel at Panjab University (PU).
He also tweeted that the government will always support the education sector and will release nearly INR 50 crore for hostel construction, and INR 30 crore has been released for the university. The government's purpose is clearly to give the youth a good learning environment, he said.
"The boys and girls of Punjab University had a long demand for a new hostel or renovation...now we are going to build a modern hostel for girls and boys..," said his another tweet.
These hostels will be constructed keeping in view the future needs of the students. It will also provide a conducive atmosphere for education, he said while his visit to the university, as reported by Tribune India.
He added that five new floors will come up over the existing two-storey building of the girls’ hostels whereas a six-storey boys’ hostel will also be constructed in the university.
The Punjab government is committed to the holistic development of the university as 175 colleges of the state are affiliated with it, Mann said.
These hostels are the need of the hour to ensure that students can focus on their education while studying at university and do not have to spend money for living in other places, he added.
