Prior to Union Budget 2024, yesterday President Murmu addressed the Parliament and talked about various development and schemes of India. She also talked about the key initiatives of India DST in her address to Parliament.

President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Parliament on January 31, 2024, before the announcement of the interim budget 2024 today and among other points, she also talked about the key initiatives of India DST.

Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of India DST, said on X, "Underlining the centrality of S&T in the progress of the country, the Hon'ble President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu mentioned key initiatives of @IndiaDST in her address to the Parliament. She emphasised that the Anusandhan National Research Foundation Act #ANRF will strengthen research & innovation in the country. The Hon’ble President also highlighted about the approval of the National Quantum Mission #NQM by the Government to remain ahead in quantum S&T and said that Quantum computing will develop a new age digital infrastructure. Focusing on the importance placed by the Government on Green Energy & Green Mobility, she said that India is also progressing at a fast pace in the field of Hydrogen energy."

President Murmu's address to Parliament: More Details

In her 90-minute long address before the 2024 general election, she highlighted key achievements of the government during the last 10 years. She said - India has become the 5th largest economy in the world, Foreign Direct Investment in India increasing, with the implementation of GST, the concept of ‘One country, One tax, One market’ has become a reality. Steps to further simplify the GST will continue, she added.
