Management of Early Childhood Care and Education Services course will also prepare students for positions such as teachers, administrators, and coordinators in early childhood care and education centres, as well as NGOs working on child development campaigns and projects.

Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is all set to launch a certificate course on “Management of Early Childhood Care and Education Services” from academic year 2024-25.

Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science, said, “This groundbreaking program is tailored to meet the evolving needs of our society, providing students with the knowledge and skills essential for fostering the healthy development of young minds. It is a comprehensive initiative that caters to the growing demand for qualified professionals who can navigate the complexities of managing and enhancing early childhood education services.” 

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies believes that this Certificate course on Management of Early Childhood Care and Education Services is a significant step towards creating a brighter and more compassionate future for both students and society, she added.

Dr Seema Sharma, Head of the department, told, “The course is crafted in a manner that will equip the students with theoretical and practical skills in developmental assessment of young children, management of differently-abled children, entrepreneurship in child care and education services; life skills; communication, personality and value education. Students will acquire the ability to develop and implement strategic plans, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of early childhood centers, and start of their own enterprises like Nursery School, Day Care Center, After School Care Center and Center for differently-abled children, she said. It will enable them to be self-reliant economically, she added. It will also prepare them for roles such as teachers, administrators and coordinators in early childhood care and education centers, and NGOs handling child development projects, she informed.
