Rs 272 crore has been sanctioned under the Nirbhaya Fund for DU's girls hostel.

Rs 272 crore sanctioned for girls' hostel in Delhi University: Union Minister Smriti Irani

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has sanctioned Rs 272 crore for residential accommodation for girls and working women pursuing higher education at the Delhi University, said Union Minister Smriti Irani. It is released under the Nirbhaya Fund.

She wrote on X, "The @MinistryWCD has sanctioned Rs. 272 crore for Residential Accommodation for girls and working women pursuing higher education at Delhi University under the Nirbhaya Fund. Aligned with PM @NarendraModi ji's vision of Viksit Bharat, this initiative empowers working women and girls pursuing higher education. This project will provide 1000 beds with enhanced security, CCTV surveillance and gender-sensitive amenities."

 

She announced to grant funds from the Nirbhaya Fund for women’s hostels at Delhi University on March 7.

University of Delhi said on X, "On the demand of girl students, during the “Vikas Bharat Ambassador-Nari Shakti Conclave” organized at Delhi University on March 07, 2024, Union Cabinet Minister of Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs, Smriti Zubin Irani gave grant from Nirbhaya Fund for women's hostel in DU. had announced."

 

Minority Affairs Ministry approves DU's Proposal To Establish Centre for Advanced Studies in Buddhism 

The Ministry of Minority Affairs has approved a proposal from the University of Delhi to establish the Centre for Advanced Studies in Buddhism. The study centre will be constructed at the university campus at an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) and the Buddhist Development Plan (BDP). It will also include various courses in Buddhist studies like undergraduate, postgraduation, Ph.D., and research programs.
