Tezpur University actively participated in the live streaming event organized for the laying of the foundation stone for three semiconductor facilities in India. The event, which marked a significant milestone in the nation's technological advancement was attended by Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University, Dean’s of various schools, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Finance Officer, students, faculty and staff.
The Vice Chancellor attended the event at the Council Hall of the University, while the Departments organised the event at the Departmental level. School of Engineering organised the event at Dean’s Gallery for students & faculty of the School.
Before the start of the event, Prof Partha Pratim Sahu, Dean, School of Engineering said that the establishment of semiconductor facilities is expected to have far-reaching economic implications, including job creation, inflow of investments, and expansion of the manufacturing sector giving scope for start-ups. A total of 1853 number of students and TU employees participated in the event.
Tezpur University invites applications for free studentship award
The university has invited applications for in the prescribed format from students admitted in the Spring Semester 2024 belonging to BPL category for award of free studentship. The students will be selected as per the provision of the revised guidelines of free studentship 2022-23. The last date to send the application is April 16, 2024.
The number of free studentships for each program shall be limited to one student per program (which may increase) and will be decided according to the merit position in the Autumn Semester 2023 (on the basis of CGPA). The awardees should be within top 60 percent of their respective class.
The applications will be screened by a committee for selection of the eligible candidates for free studentship. The selected candidates will have to pay the hostel menial and medical insurance fee only.
The filled in application along with Ration Card and original BPL documents issued by the Food and Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Branch of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner is to be submitted in original by the candidate(s) to the O/O the Controller of Examinations through the concerned HoD. However, those students who were awarded free studentship in previous semester may submit the application(s) for its screening for the Spring Semester. 2024.
