UGC has released a notification requesting Higher Education Institutions to celebrate International Yoga Day and share the videos and pictures of the event on various social media platforms for a wider reach. Further, the UGC has notified that Higher Education Institutions have to adhere to the MCC guidelines while celebrating International Yoga Day.
"As you are aware, the International Day of Yoga (lDY) is celebrated every year on 21"!June. lt has effectively facilitated the global dissemination of the significance of practising yoga for overall health and well-being and enduring sustainable lifestyle. This year the Ministry of Ayush has started organizing various countdown activities all over India to build momentum towards the International Day of Yoga and has obtained special permission from the Election Commission of India to organize these activities complying with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines (copy enclosed) for reference." The official notification reads.
Moreover, the authorities have proposed to organise an IDY countdown event in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol in Higher Education Institutions on or before June 21, 2024. Moreover, UGC has requested to telecast the videos of the Yoga Day celebration on various social media platforms for a wider reach.
“It is requested that proceedings of this event be recorded and subsequently uploaded on various social media platforms tagging the Ministry of Ayush to ensure wider reach. This initiative will enable to reach a wider audience and inspire individuals to incorporate Yoga into their daily lives for their overall well-being.” The official notification reads further.
Further, the UGC has notified that the Higher Education Institutions have to adhere to the MCC guidelines while celebrating International Yoga Day on June 21, 2024.
