The University of Mumbai has postponed all Summer 2025 exams scheduled for August 8 to August 19 due to the Narali Pournima holiday. Timing and venue remain unchanged.

The University of Mumbai has officially revised the schedule for all Summer 2025 examinations that were to be held on August 8, 2025, postponing them to August 19, 2025. The change comes in light of the local holiday for Narali Pournima declared by the Maharashtra government.

In a circular issued on August 11, 2025, the Board of Examinations & Evaluation directed principals of affiliated colleges in Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, and Pharmacy, as well as the Director of the Centre for Distance & Online Education (CDOE), to inform candidates about the change. The time and venue for the rescheduled papers will remain the same as originally planned.

The decision was confirmed through the university’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, reiterating the shift and advising students to check with their respective institutions for any further clarifications. The notice specifies that the rescheduling applies to all papers originally fixed for August 8, across faculties and modes of study.

Narali Pournima, an important festival in Maharashtra marking the onset of the fishing season, is observed with local holidays in coastal districts. The overlap with the university’s examination schedule prompted the administrative adjustment to avoid logistical disruptions and ensure smooth conduct.

This rescheduling mirrors similar academic calendar adjustments being seen across Indian universities this month. Just last week, Telangana State Council of Higher Education extended the TS PGECET 2025 Phase I counselling registration deadline to August 18, citing administrative reasons and student requests.

For University of Mumbai candidates, the new date offers an additional 11 days of preparation time, although students are advised to stick to their original study plans to maintain momentum.

The full circular is available on the University of Mumbai’s website, and institutions have been instructed to disseminate the information promptly to avoid confusion.
