Since the Coronavirus outbreak, most universities have asked their foreign student who went to their home country in January during winter break, to not return till the situation comes under control.
To assist international students and keep them away from Coronavirus scares, Chinese universities are all set to host online classes for them. Nearly five lakh students are studying in China out of which 23,000 are Indians. Since the Coronavirus outbreak, most universities have asked their foreign student who went to meet their families to their home country in January during winter break, to not return till the situation comes under control. The universities have issued a notice regarding this and have asked the international students to stay in their home countries until further notice.
Most universities have planned to reschedule their spring semester. However, the dates of the spring schedule have not been announced yet by the universities. An official announcement at Tsinghua University, Beijing states that the students who are living in the dormitory should protect themselves, wash hands regularly, wear marks, avoid crowded areas, and keep a constant check on their body temperature. In case of symptoms like fever, cough, and acute respiratory tract infection, students are advised to seek medical help immediately.
Talking about the coronavirus scare in China, an MBA student at Peking University, Divyakshi Kukshal said that China is taking every possible measure to contain the virus outbreak and keep things under control. She also added that the country has issued many advisories to help foreign students.
To ensure timely completion of academic activities, several varsities are planning to host online classes. According to many statements given by students studying in China, the country’s medical staff is buffed up to help students living in the dormitories. The authorities are being extra cautious even in the areas where coronavirus scare is less.
Meanwhile, around 650 Indian nationals have been evacuated from Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic.
