TN School Reopening: The government of Tamil Nadu has decided to reopen schools and colleges in the state considering the academic loss that students are facing amid the closure. According to the official decision taken by the authorities, schools, colleges and universities in Tamil Nadu will be reopened from February 1. Students and parents must note that schools will be reopened for Classes 1 to 12. Meanwhile, the playschool, LKG and UKG will remain closed, the state government announced on Thursday, January 27.

Earlier, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that before the board exams, the first revision exams will be held in January and the second revision exams in March. The extra classes are likely to be conducted a week ago as schools were closed due to heavy rainfall since November.
The state government has also lifted the night curfew from January 28. However, as a precautionary against COVID-19 spread, the present 50 per cent occupancy restrictions for restaurants, salons, cinemas, gyms, yoga centres will remain in place.
Various states across the country have started reopening schools and other educational institutions. While Maharashtra has already reopened the schools amid various requests made by the parents regarding school reopening. The government of the national capital is the next in line that has received requests from more than 1600 parents regarding school reopening. It is likely that DDMA would decide on the reopening of schools in the next meeting. Until then, the schools shall remain closed.
