Security branch asked to submit report on group clash at JNU

After a clash broke out between two student groups on the campus that left two students injured, the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) authorities have asked the security branch to take necessary action and submit a detailed report on the incident. The police have registered two FIRs in connection with the incident. According to the police, two students were injured in the scuffle, while university sources claimed that only one student suffered injuries in the incident.
The university issued a statement, which said, βIt has come to our notice that a scuffle between two groups of students broke out on campus due to personal animosity. JNU authority has taken a serious view of the matter and has instructed the Dean of Students and the security branch to take necessary steps and submit a detailed report on the incident.β
A video has been circulating on the social media platform Twitter wherein there were many students who were shown walking around the campus of JNU with sticks in their hands. One of the persons was also seen wearing cloth masks and others holding sticks with them and roaming around. Reports stated that the clash happened due to personal disputes. The police said they will verify the authenticity of the videos. Meanwhile, the university sources and the police said no political groups were involved in the incident.
