Two students of two separate schools located in Tamil Nadu’s Shivagangai district attempted to kill themselves inside their school campuses. The two minors, who studied at separate schools, were reportedly in a relationship. The reason for them taking such extreme measures against their lives is still unknown. The school students had returned to campus after a 3-day holiday. After the morning prayer, students went to their respective classrooms.
Two students said to be in relationship
According to India Today, the Class 10 girl, who was studying at the Tiruppuvanam Government Girls School, jumped off the second floor of the building. The 15-year-old Class 10 student cut herself with a pen and then jumped off the second floor. Teachers rushed her to Tiruppuvanam Government Hospital. After giving her the basic first aid treatment, the student was taken to the Madurai Government Hospital with serious injuries to her legs.
In the second incident, a 17-year-old boy from Kamarajar Matriculation school in Sivagangai also attempted suicide on campus by drinking pesticide. The boy had fainted in his classroom and his teachers rushed him to the hospital.
The two students were said to be in a relationship. But, it is uncertain why both attempted suicide.
Suicide attempt reason unknown
While there are speculations of the two being in a relationship, the reason behind their attempt for suicide is still unknown. Upon being informed about the two incidents, the District Education Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kannan and the Tehsildar reached the hospital and are conducting an investigation into the reason for the teenagers taking this extreme measure.
