UGC NET 2022 application process is underway for the merged December 2021 and June 2022 cycles. NTA has introduced some major changes this year such as increase in the UGC NET application fee, number of subjects and exam centres. Read further details below.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the combined UGC NET December 2021 and June 2022 cycles. The UGC NET application 2022 began on April 30, 2022, along with the issue of a notification PDF. Eligible candidates can apply online for the UGC NET 2022 examination.

While going through the UGC NET notification 2022, also known as Information Bulletin, major changes have been seen in a few aspects of the exam process such as application fee, number of subjects, exam centres and answer key challenge fees.

Increase in UGC NET application fee 2022

The NTA has increased the UGC NET application fee for the December 2021 & June 2022 merged cycles. There has been around a 10 per cent hike in the application fee. Have a look at the revised fee structure below:

Number of Subjects increased to 82

Until now, the UGC NET exam was conducted in a total of 81 subjects. However, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced one more subject for the UGC NET 2022 exam. UGC added a new subject 'Hindu Studies' (Subject code 102) to the list of subjects. Candidates can now make choice from the list of 82 subjects while submitting the UGC NET application form 2022.

More UGC NET exam centre cities added

The UGC NET 2022 exam will be held in a total of 541 exam centre cities. The number of UGC NET exam centres 2022 have been increased in respect to the previous year wherein the exam was held in 239 cities. The full list of the exam centre cities has also been made available by the NTA in the notification.

UGC NET answer key 2022 challenge fees reduced

The NTA releases the provisional UGC NET answer key 2022 along with the marked responses and question paper soon after the conduct of the exam to invite objections from candidates. Earlier, candidates could challenge the provisional answer key by paying a fee of INR 1,000 per challenge. However, candidates will now be required to pay INR 200 only per challenge.
