A team will be sent to The Netherlands to study the 'Early Warning System' so that the state can re-enrol the school dropouts, especially in the age group of 6 to 14 years. Under this model, authorities will track whether a child remains absent from school for over 40 days.

The state is all set to follow The Netherlands' model to check the school drop-outs. The government will be sending a 12-member team led by Sandeep Singh, the Basic Education Minister, to The Netherlands to study what they call an 'Early Warning System'.

As per the government, this model can help Uttar Pradesh to re-enrol school dropouts, particularly in the age bracket of 6 to 14 years.

Vijay Kiran Anand, director general of school education, said, "On the lines of the Early Warning System, special efforts will be made to connect the absent children -- out-of-school children -- with the mainstream of education," as reported by Economic Times.

"Parents of children, who are continuously absent from school due to any reason, will be encouraged to send their wards to school," he added.

'Early Warning System' reportedly prevents kids from dropping out of school. In this system, the government authorities track if a child remains absent from school for more than 40 days. If yes, then their parents/guardians are contacted to ensure that the child returns to school. The state is also planning to implement it soon to reduce school drop-outs. The system can be implemented by the end of this year.

Apart from implementing the 'Early Warning System' to prevent school dropouts, the government is also planning to run various awareness campaigns to encourage parents towards sending their wards to school.

According to the Basic Education Department survey, nearly 4.81 lakh children were found out of school in 2020-21 in Uttar Pradesh. This figure was more than 4 lakh in 2021-22 and 3.30 lakh in 2022-23.
