The conclave was emancipated with a presentation from Torsha Dwivedi and Shakti Singh from the MBA-08 batch introducing the theme. The presentation covered aspects such as the adoption levels of AI and how it can be further designed, developed, and deployed in organizations at various levels for the betterment of society.

The keynote speaker Pradeep Saini enunciated how India is at the cusp of needing budding managers to have the capabilities to achieve great heights globally. He mentioned, “AI is a double-edged sword and one can flip to any side depending on values and ethics”. A benevolent or malicious intent won’t be differentiated by AI and so it is necessary to understand the implications and be accountable for its usage.

Dr Swati Jain who took up the moderator’s responsibility commenced the discussion by demystifying the concept of AI and stated the penetration levels of AI in different sectors and the enormous potential AI holds in mitigating risks. However, she expressed her concern about protecting and reinforcing positive human values – something which AI lacks today. She further added that organizations have to come up with responsible AI tools and a 3-pronged approach because responsible AI in the long run would be a sustainable solution.

Phaneendra Durgam highlighted that consumers can also contribute by identifying the context, and pain points and addressing the outcomes that would lead to a responsible AI. He further emphasized the regulation of AI through an external body, an ecosystem regulator, and self-regulation and spoke on how essential it is to have clarity on the path, understand the context, and use the tools responsibly.

Talking about how responsible AI should be embedded as a value-added activity in an organization as the human mind is perceiving and triangulating knowledge Satyamoy Chatterjee explicated the necessity of transparent and legitimate auditing in AI.

The students of IIM Amritsar were quite engaged during the panel discussion. An enlightening Q&A session between the panellists and students made the talks extremely participatory. The Conclave successfully concluded on a high note.
