SSC CHSL, JE & Stenographer Grade C & D exam dates to be announced after lockdown 3.0

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in a review meeting held on May 4, has decided to announce the exam dates for Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (Tier-I) 2020, Junior Engineer (Paper-I) exam 2020, Stenographer Grade C & D 2019-20 and CHSL 2018 Skill Test after the lockdown 3.0. Also, the commission will announce the results of SSC JE paper-II 2018, SSC MTS paper-II 2019, SSC CGL Tier-I 2020, SSC CGL tier-III 2018 after the lifting of the lockdown.

The dates of the examinations will be announced at least one month in advance for the convenience of the candidates. The commission will further review the situation on May 18, 2020.

What does the official notice read?

The official notice issued regarding this reads, “The Staff Selection Commission has reviewed the situation arising out of the coronavirus pandemic, it has been noted that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has divided the entire country into different zones according to the spread of coronavirus and that the lockdown has been extended to May 17. As many as 130 districts in the country including metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, have been put into Red Zones. The Commission conducts its examinations in various exams in more than 150 cities. The candidates are therefore required to travel to appear in the exam. This is not possible as long as restrictions in movements are in place in any part of the country.”

“Keeping this in view, the commission has decided that the schedules of Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (Tier-I) 2020, Junior Engineer (Paper-I) exam 2020, Stenographer Grade C & D 2019-20 and CHSL 2018 Skill Test will be announced only after complete lifting of restrictions of lockdown including restrictions on travel by road/train or air,” the notice further reads.

“SSC will review SSC annual calendar of other examinations will be reviewed in light of the decision of the Government with regard to the lifting of restrictions of lockdown across the country,” the notice stated.

Covid-19: SSC exams & notifications postponed

The SSC CHSL Tier-I exam commenced on March 17 and was to end on March 28. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, SSC had suspended the Tier-I exam with effect from March 20. SSC JE Paper 1 exam which scheduled to take place from March 30 to April 2.

The ongoing SSC CPO 2019-20 medical test had also been cancelled by the Ministry of Home Affairs with effect from March 23, 2020.  SSC GD Constable Detailed Medical Exam (DME) that was scheduled to be held from March 26 to April 7 had been postponed. Also, the commission had postponed the SSC GD Constable Review Medical Exam (RME) that was scheduled to be held from March 24 to April 30.

SSC CPO 2020 notification & SSC JHT 2020 notification were also been postponed. The exam notifications were scheduled to be released on April 17. SSC Stenographer Grade C & D 2019-20 which was scheduled to be conducted from May 5 to 7, 2020 had been postponed amid the fear of coronavirus pandemic.

Covid-19 pandemic: SSC results deferred

SSC JE result 2018 result for Paper-II was scheduled to be announced on April 9, however, it was postponed. Similarly, SSC MTS 2019 Paper II result was scheduled to be announced on April 30 but was delayed. SSC CGL result 2018 for Tier-III was slated to be announced on May 8 but was deferred due to COVID-19 pandemic. SSC CGL Tier-I 2020 result was also delayed due to the pandemic situation.
