Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has released a model question paper for the Group II/Group II A services exam. The TNPSC Group II/Group IIA syllabus was revised recently and to address the candidates anxiety related to the new syllabus, TNPSC has released the model question paper for the Group II/Group II A services exam.

There are 200 questions printed in English and Tamil both. The Model Question Paper pdf contains 120 pages having questions from all the sections of TNPSC Group II revised syllabus. In the new TNPSC Group II Syllabus, General Tamil and General English were removed and the questions will be framed only from the General Studies and Aptitude and Mental Ability Test. There will be 175 questions from the General Studies and 25 questions will be asked from the Aptitude and Mental Ability. The duration of the test is 3 hours and the total marks are 300. The qualifying marks of the preliminary exam is 90.

There is a difference in the qualifying marks and cut off marks. The qualifying marks are the minimum marks required to qualify the TNPSC Group II Exam. It is mentioned beforehand in the notification itself. On the other hand cut off marks are the marks required to get a place in the merit list prepared according to the number of vacancies. The cut off is prepared after the examination and is published after or with the result. In majority cases, cut off is higher than the qualifying marks.

Cut off depends on the number of vacancies, difficulty level of the question paper and the number of applicants appeared in the exam. The model question paper does not mark the sections from which the questions were framed. There is no fixed number of questions marked to be asked from a section.

The new syllabus for TNPSC Group II (Interview/non-Interview) post exam has the following Units

1. General Science
2. Current Events
3. Geography of India
4. History and Culture of India
5. Indian Polity
6. Indian Economy
7. Indian National Movement
8. History, Culture, Heritage and Socio-Political Movements in Tamil Nadu
9. Development Administration in Tamil Nadu
10. Aptitude and Mental Ability

The candidates need to prepare the above topics in their entirety giving special emphasis on the events related to Tamil Nadu.
