Union Public Service Commission has announced the UPSC IAS 2020 prelims exam date on May 20. The IAS prelims 2020 will be conducted on 4 October 2020. The IAS admit card for the UPSC prelims 2020 will be released September 14. The IAS admit card is released three weeks before the IAS exam. The IAS exam 2020 for prelims was scheduled to be conducted on May 31 but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic across the nation.

The IAS main 2020 will be conducted from January 8, 2021. IAS prelims exam is an offline objective type exam comprises two question papers. The IAS exam is conducted across the nation at the designated IAS exam centres. The IAS prelims exam is a screening exam only and the marks secured in the IAS prelims exam is not considered for the final merit.

In the IAS prelims exam also, the general studies paper II is only qualifying in nature. The candidates need to score 33% marks in the aptitude paper. Out of 200, the candidates need to score 66 marks in the general studies paper II.

The IAS prelims 2020 will now be conducted on October 4, so only days are left for the IAS prelims preparation and the candidates need to focus all their efforts on the IAS preparation and some important topics for the IAS exam.

The current affairs will play a crucial role in the IAS prelims 2020 as it had in the past. The candidates should give stress on the current affairs preparation. The candidates should practise more and more with the previous year IAS question papers for the static general studies topics and with mock papers for the current affairs questions.

How to prepare Current Affairs?

Negative Marking in IAS prelims exam

There is a negative marking in the IAS prelims exam. The magnitude of negative marking is 33%. It means 33% marks (assigned to that question) will be deducted from the aggregate marks for each wrong answer. It can be easily understood by saying every three wrong answers will neutralise one right answer.

The candidates are suggested to mark their answer carefully because every wrong answer will have the implications on the final score
