Delhi University Admission to Science Course: Calculate Best of Four Subjects

Once the Class 12 marks have been declared, the first choice of getting admission in the national capita, is Delhi University. For DU admissions, aspirants can secure admission in most of the programmes on the basis of a cut-off list released by the varsity. DU cut-offs are known to exceptionally high, especially for the popular courses on offer by it. However, students need not worry because they can secure admissions in some Delhi University (DU) courses on the basis of a Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET). But a majority of the courses on offer at DU colleges offer admission on the basis of merit and for these programmes aspirants need to calculate 'best four' percentage. One needs to meet the cut-off and that is calculated by the percentage you have scored in the best of four. One also needs to take into consideration that a student needs to have the subject in the best of four, not the odd one out from five.

While calculating the ‘best four’ percentage for Mathematical Sciences/Science/Interdisciplinary & Applied Sciences, aspirants need to take courses listed in Academic/ Elective subjects for the DU Admissions table (mentioned towards the end of the article) into consideration. Apart from that, all the subjects included “(PCM/PCB/PCMB) must have at least 70% theory component of the examination. In case, the subject to be considered does not have a 70% theory component and 30% practical component, then the marks of theory and practical only must be converted to 70% and 30%, respectively on a pro-rata basis. These new marks will then be considered for calculation of PCM/PCB etc”, informs DU’s official website.

For biomedical science what is the selection basis? Is it the aggregation of PCB or the best four subjects?
