Bangalore has long been a favourite destination for students from across the country. It also has the highest number of expat and foreign students. According to a study by MHRD, Karnataka alone attracts one-third of the foreign student population in India with 10,103 pupils.

1. M.E.S college of Arts, commerce & Science College
Established in 1956 with merely 68 students, today M.E.S is considered to be the one of best colleges in Bangalore. India Today ranked the college at #46 among India's Best Arts Colleges (2013).
Apart from arts, the college is well known for its commerce and science courses. The college also offers Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and Marketing Management. A separate division exist for pre-university courses – MES Pre-University College of Arts, Commerce and Science. The college also has a high-profile Placement Cell.

2. St Josephs College
One of the oldest colleges in Bangalore, St Joseph’s College was established in 1882, more than 130 years ago. The college offers graduate, postgraduate and doctorate education in Science, Humanities and Languages (Departments of English, Hindi, Kannada, Sanskrit, French, Tamil and German).
The college has four sister institutions – St Joseph's College of Commerce, St Joseph's Evening College, St Joseph's Boys’ High School and St Joseph's Indian High School (apart from St Joseph's College). At present, more than 5000 students are studying in these five colleges.

Established in 1969, Christ University (formerly Christ College) is now a deemed university. 4. Mount Carmel College (MCC)
