Mystory@Sara Hassan: How I made my career – Challenges and successes

I did my Intermediate in the Science stream, and then did BSc followed by MA, PGCTE and MEd. My educational career was a great challenge for me, as I got married during my graduation. Post marriage, I received no encouragement from my family. My husband was against my continuing education.

However, I overcame all the hurdles on the way with my determination and hard work.

I thank my parents for their help by paying the fees for all the courses I did. Because of their financial support, encouragement and the blessings of god, I continued my education.

With a lot of pain from overcoming the hurdles, I am looking forward to completing my PhD as soon as possible. I pay tribute to all my teachers, lecturers and professors for the cooperation they rendered me during my education. I went to college with a lot of difficulties, but I participated in almost all extra-curricular activities. I received a lot of appreciation from the administration, teachers and lecturers.

Mine is an example for all the students who cannot continue their education because of the absence of support and encouragement from their families or people related to them.

I always wanted to be a successful person in whatever stream I chose. I was always inspired by my dedicated teachers who motivated me to study further and achieve my goals. Then came the turning point in my life when I was selected as English lecturer at a medical college in Saudi Arabia, where I was appreciated for my teaching skills and hard work.

This motivated me to continue pursuing higher education and now, I am pursuing my PhD.

I am Sara Hassan and I belong to a middle class family. I have seen ups and downs of life and now, I can call myself successful in both my family life and my career. I am an English lecturer. I love counselling and motivating students who need help to overcome their problems.
