NIRF University Ranking 2018

National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in collaboration with Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India releases India Rankings each year. This year NIRF released India Rankings 2018 for universities, colleges, engineering colleges, management colleges, pharmacy colleges, law colleges, architecture colleges and medical colleges.

In order to rank educational institutes, NIRF uses parameters which include – Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR); Research, Professional Practice (RP); Outreach and Inclusivity (OI); Graduation Outcome (GO) as well as Perception (PR). Under each of these parameters, institutes are evaluated out of a total score of 100. For NIRF University Ranking 2018, some sub-parameters like public perception, earnings from patents, etc) have been removed as it is felt by the authorities that the reliability as well as consistency of data provided to them under these parameters may not be authentic.

Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has secured Rank 1 in NIRF India Rankings 2018 with a total score of 82.16 out of 100. Rank 2 in NIRF University Rankings 2018 has been secured by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) whereas Banaras Hindu University (BHU) stands at Rank 3. The overall score of JNU and BHU is 67.57 and 63.52 respectively. Other universities that have found a spot among the NIRF University Ranking 2018 are – Anna University, University of Hyderabad (UoH), Jadavpur University, University of Delhi, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Savitribai Phule Pune University and Aligarh Muslim University.
