Q:   Can I get admission to BTech in Computer Engineering course at Jamia Millia Islamia [JMI]? My rank is between 5000 and 10000.

A:

For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Computer Engineering was 7216 which is very close to this range. This was for the General category under the All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however, the cut-offs keep changing year after year, it's advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission to the BTech in Computer Engineering course offered at the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared many of the academic centres of the university as ‘Centres of Excellence’. JNU stood at second position with a score of 68.92.

Q:   Do all IISER students get scholarships?

A:
One of the major attractions at these new institutes was a guarantee of the INSPIRE-SHE award. Every student enrolled in the IISERs was eligible to receive the Rs-80,000 scholarship provided their academic performance was satisfactory, I. e. if they maintained an annual GPA of 6.0 and above on a 10-point scale. Students admitted through the KVPY channel will be eligible for scholarships as per KVPY norms. Students admitted through IIT-JEE (Advanced) and SCB channels will be eligible for a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships as per the norms of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Q:   Do all universities take MBA admission through CUET-PG?

A:

The choice of entrance exam for MBA, differs from university to university. If we take the example of MBA admissions in IMS Indore, School of Management, and AKS University we will see that among them also there is not much uniformity over the choice of entrance exam chosen for MBA admissions.

In the case of IMS Indore and AKS University, both of them only take into account the CUET-PG score of the candidate, whereas, in the case of School of Management – XAT, ITM, NEST, CMAT, CAT, ATMA exam scores can be considered for admission.

Q:   What was the closing rank of Calcutta University for CSE?

A:
Calcutta University accepts WBJEE scores, folowed by WBJEE Counselling for admission to the BTech programme. Calcutta University cut off 2023 was concluded after the release of WBJEE Mop-Up Seat Allotment Result. As per Calcutta University WBJEE cut off 2023, the last round closing rank for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering stood at 1207 for the General All India category students.

Calcutta University WBJEE cut off 2023 was concluded after the release of the Mop-Up Seat Allotment Result for admission to the BTech course. As per the Calcutta University cut off 2023, the last round closing rank for the BTech course ranged between 1207 and 27788 for the General All India category students. Analysing the last round cutoff data, BTech in Computer Science and Technology turned out to be the most competitive specialisation at Kolkata University. 

Considering the WBJEE cutoff 2023, candidates seeking admisison to Calcutta University BTech programme must secure a rank between 753 and 27788 (for General category).

Major Changes Introduced in NIRF Ranking 2024

The Innovation Ranking for 2023 was conducted using the methodology developed by the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA), the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education. However, ranking methodology for the Innovation institutions has been redefined to align with the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). New parameters and methodologies for ranking institutions for "Innovation," as well as for two additional categories, namely, "Open Universities," and "State Public Universities" introduced from this year onwards have been developed
under the NIRF and are available on the NIRF website. Considering G20 Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), criteria related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and new initiatives as parameters are being introduced for the first time to rank institutions under the Overall category. The new parameters and changes introduced for India Rankings 2024 are as follows:
i) Removal of self-citations under “Research and Professional Practices” for all categories and subject domains;
ii) FSR is being change from 1:15 to 1:10 in case of institutions being ranked under Medical subject domain;
iii) FSR is being changed from 1:15 to 1:20 for State Public Universities being introduced from this year onwards;
iv) Introduction of parameters on sustainability;
v) Introduction of parameters on new initiatives;
vi) Implementation of multiple entry and exit;
