Chandigarh University

One of the biggest private universities In India, Chandigarh University offers students admission in a variety of programmes and courses. Chandigarh University’s Department of Agricultural Sciences offers students admission in a four-year BSc (Hons) in Agriculture. The course covers various natural, scientific, economic and social issues which are used in practice and understanding of agriculture. Chandigarh University also offers students scholarships which they can apply for. The student has to meet the eligibility criteria before applying for admission.

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate needs to have passed class 12 with Science (English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology/Zoology/Botany) or should have passed class 12 with Agriculture with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, 45% for SC/ST category.

Admission Process: Eligible candidates need to apply online on the official website of Chandigarh University. On applying, candidates need to next appear for the Chandigarh University Entrance Test (CUET). Based on the marks secured, qualified candidates will be invited for admission in the course.

Lovely Professional University (LPU)

The Lovely Professional University (LPU) has recently been granted ICAR accreditation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, making the course all the more interesting for students to take up. LPU builds expertise through well planned on-field implementation and testing of basic concepts in production, yield enhancement disease resistant and better shelf life for food and flora. There are electives which are taught in the curriculum which candidates can choose from. For admission in BSc (Hons) Agriculture at LPU, candidates need to first meet the eligibility criteria and appear for an entrance exam.

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate needs to have passed class 12 with 60% aggregate marks or Intermediate (with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology/Forestry). If a candidate has not studied English as a major, the condition of English may be waived off provided the candidate in his qualifying exam has studied in English medium. 5% relaxation is offered to North-East states and Sikkim candidates/Defence Personnel and their Dependents/Wards of Kashmiri Migrants.

Admission Process: The candidate needs to firstly apply for BSc (Hons) Agriculture. The application form will be available on the official website of the university. Eligible students need to apply and then appear for LPU NEST. Candidates who qualify will be called to the university to complete the admission formalities.

Shoolini University

One of the most renowned universities in the north, students and candidates all over India apply for admission at the university which specialized in engineering and science. Shoolini University, situated in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, offers students admission in a four-year BSc (Hons) Agriculture. Shoolini University prepares students for a wide range of careers in the field of agriculture and ancillary organizations. A total of 60 seats are offered in the course.

Indian Council of Agricultural Resources (ICAR)

The Indian Council of Agricultural Resources (ICAR) offers students admission in a variety of agricultural courses which are offered at 4 Universities, 65 Institutions, 14 National Research Centres, 6 National Bureaux and 13 Directorates/Project Directorates. For admission in either of the institute or university, candidates need to appear for a national-level entrance test. Under ICAR, the Agricultural Education Portal offers students admission in BSc Agriculture courses which are offered at various universities in the nation.

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate must be 16 years of age to apply and nationality should be Indian. The candidate should have completed class 12 from CBSE  or any other recognised board in English medium with at least any three Science subjects. The candidate should have secured at least 50% in their class 12.

Admission Process: Students need to apply and appear for ICAR AIEEA (UG). The national-level entrance test is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates can apply online and will have to appear for the entrance exam. Based on the marks secured and the merit list released, candidates can apply for admission in either of the colleges affiliated to ICAR.

Punjab Agricultural University

The Punjab Agricultural University’s College of Agriculture offers students admission in four-year BSc (Hons) Agriculture. Candidates are taught and exposed to the various aspects in the field of agriculture. The university has four constituent colleges which has 32 departments.
