Distinguished Lecture Series – Key Transitions in the Indian Economy by Padma Shri Dr Bibek Debroy

July 5, 2023: Padma Shri Dr Bibek Debroy, Chairperson of the Prime Ministers Economic Advisory Council and Chairperson of the Chanakya Fellowship in Social Sciences, gave a distinguished lecture on "Key Transitions in Indian Economy" at the Yuvapatha in Jayanagar, Bangalore. Additionally, this served as the official opening of the Bengaluru branch of the Chanakya Fellowship Programme campaign. With more than 400 participants from academics, think tanks, the media, business, and civil society, this was a very interesting interaction. During his talk, Dr Debroy articulated the challenges, points of inflection, and the envisioned trajectory for the Indian Economy till 2047. He stated, “Sweeping predictions about dynamic economies like India are bound to be inaccurate. Yet the trends and projections of growth indicate that the Indian Economy would grow significantly and that will reflect in per capita income, HDI, and a significant reduction in the number of people below the poverty line.”

June 6, 2023: The faculty at Chanakya University cherishes the opportunity to frequently engage in intellectual dialogue with pioneers, inventors, and leaders from various spheres of human endeavour. At Chanakya University, it is not uncommon to witness the fusion of ideas and the unrestrained sharing of professional experiences. They all came from different backgrounds, but what brought them together was their dedication to the cause of education. The panel discussion was followed by the Q and A session. The leadership and faculty members interacted with the panelists and a volley of thought-provoking questions ensued. The panellists were asked about the operational nuances, cultural sustainability, the concept of freedom in an educational context, and many such insightful questions, and sure enough, these were met with insightful answers.

The Campaign Launch of the Chanakya Fellowship Programme - 2023-24 Cohort

June 6, 2023: The Campaign Launch of the Chanakya Fellowship Programme was held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, a place of historical and institutional eminence. In highlighting the importance of social sciences in learning and problem-solving in the twenty-first century, the program's primary guest, Prof. D K. Srivastava, Vice Chairman, UGC, remarked, "Social Science in the twenty-first century provides the potential to solve real word problems. For instance, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in underdeveloped countries depends on social science application. He emphasised the value of the Chanakya Fellowship Programme in giving young and aspirant brains the opportunity for applied learning.

"NEP 2020 has opened up new avenues for starting undergraduate degrees in social sciences, and fellowship programmes like the Chanakya Fellowship in social sciences will provide the needed impetus for mainstreaming critical and creative thinking, which is the need of the hour for refreshing developments to occur," said the guest of honour, Prof. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities and Member, Chanakya Fellowship Advisory Council. The Indian Council of Social Science Research's Member Secretary, Prof. Dhananjay Singh, stated that "Social sciences as a field is a western fabrication. It is necessary to break it down from the standpoint of regional notions. The Chankaya Fellowship project will undoubtedly give people a chance to demonstrate its importance in relation to Indian culture.

Chanakya University Conducts a Hands-On Session on the Mendeley Software Platform

June 6, 2023: Chanakya University conducted a hands-on session on the Mendeley software platform. This session was held on 26 May 2023 at the Brigade Orchards campus. The work of organising and managing Scholarly Articles, References, and Citations has proven to be difficult in today's period of technological breakthroughs, where research is expanding quickly. Mendeley can help to some part reduce this. K. A. Venkatesh, the dean of the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, was invited by the university to speak about Mendeley in this regard. Chanakya University to Focus on Indian Knowledge Systems as a Part of NEP

March 20, 2023: On Saturday night, Chanakya University will formally begin. The university has already garnered a reputation for its aspirations to follow the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 with a focus on Indian knowledge systems. Manjul Bhargava, a prominent mathematician and recipient of the Padma Bhushan award, the Padma Shri awardee Dr Sudha Murty, the founder of the Infosys Foundation, and Dr Sitaram Jindal, chairman of Jindal Aluminium, will also participate in the launch. Dr K. Kasturirangan, the head of the NEP 2020 drafting committee and a former leader of the Indian Space Research Organization, will preside over the ceremony (ISRO).

Vice Chancellor Prof. Yashavantha Dongre stated that the university could receive up to 1,300 students in the upcoming academic year. "We founded the institution with the assistance of famous professionals and intend to raise the bar for instruction. Courses would also include crucial modern-era skills including communication, computer literacy, moral development, and research, the official said. University spokespeople have also stated that the courses and syllabi are designed to place emphasis on Indian Knowledge Systems, particularly as part of the NEP. The university and the NEP are closely related because Prof. M. K. Sridhar, a member of the policy's core committee, is the institution's chancellor and one of its founders. Dr Kasturirangan is one of the important members of its international advisory committee. Indic Academy founder Hari Kiran Vadlamani, Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, former founder-director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology Prof. S Sadagopal, co-founder of the Centre for Film and Drama Prakash Belawadi, and former Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan are among the other members.

Chanakya University launched, a Step Towards Indian Multidisciplinary Education System, Says Renowned mathematician Prof Manjul Bhargava 

March 20, 2023: Chanakya University, according to renowned mathematician Prof. Manjul Bhargava, is a step in India's transition to a multidisciplinary system of education. He was the keynote speaker on Saturday night at Chanakya University's ceremonial opening. Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister of Higher Education, and a number of notable figures who support the university were present at the event. According to rof Bhargava, "A lot of current mathematics used in daily life and in technology was based on the Hindu numbers. The Europeans were still using Roman numbers without it. The "zero" is essential. It began with philosophy, moved on to linguistics, poetry, music, astronomy, and eventually math and computer science. This demonstrates the value of interdisciplinary education. He claimed that being able to adapt ideas from other fields is the key to innovation.

Chanakya University was founded by several key figures in the development of the National Education Policy under the auspices of the Centre for Educational and Social Studies (CESS), and it has the support of numerous donors and distinguished individuals working in a variety of fields. "This special institution is being founded by a charitable trust using donations from the general public, has no commercial focus, and is not for profit. People have woken up as a result of the university's reputation spreading to neighbouring cities. The university will be funded, with a focus on providing high-quality, value-added education, according to Dr. Sitharam Jindal, founder, chairman, and managing director of Jindal Aluminium. The university would add to Bengaluru's wealth of outstanding educational institutions, according to Biocon India founder and chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. "Knowledge is essential for achieving economic success. We are expanding Bengaluru's network of excellent educational institutions. This contributes to making Bangalore the nation's "Knowledge Capital," which will make us immensely proud, in addition to its "Science Capital," she remarked.

Chanakya University VC Praises Souharda for Launching co-op Studies

March 20, 2023: The recently held Diploma in Cooperation and Banking Management course was officially opened by Prof. Yeshwanth Dongre, vice chancellor of Chanakya University Bengaluru, Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University, and Karnataka State Souharda Federal Co-Operative Ltd. Bangalore (KSSFCL). In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Professor Dongre said that the institution's decision to support the growth of cooperative education and professionalism was a very wise one. It represents a novel development for the cooperative industry. Speaking on the occasion Sri VishnuKant Chatapalli vice chancellor of Karnataka state rural development Panchayatraj University told that the university started its activities since 2017 and since then it is doing well especially for courses in rural development.

Any recommendations for the programmes pertaining to rural development are welcome. We prioritise quality, and all of our programmes will have our logo. As cooperation is a great way to promote rural development and because I find it to be interesting, I'm thrilled that our university has partnered with the Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd. in Bangalore to provide a DCBM course. Chanakya University Hosts Virtual Knowledge Conclave On February 26

March 3, 2022: On February 26, 2022, Chanakya University sponsored a virtual Knowledge Conclave event for professors of Class 11, 12, and 2nd PUC institutions as part of their launch programme. The event followed a two-panel format, with each session focusing on NEP 2020 and its impact on empowering students in higher education and vocational education, as well as employability and leadership abilities. About 90-100 people joined virtually to take away the NEP learning elements and to share and clarify the same.

Dr Gowrisha, Prof. Ravivarma, and Dr Rajendra Kumar V Joshi were on the first panel, which was moderated by Dr Sandeep Nair. The discussion centered on the panellists pitching their ideas on the panel's theme, which was mediated by questions and clarification on the NEP model.

The comments of the experts were well-driven in the Q&A on bringing clarity on the model's primary objectives, implementation of languages as courses, role of the state, universities, and faculty.

Sri Suresh Raju moderated the second panel. Dr Sushanth Joshi was one of the panellists. Dr Rajdeep Manwani and Dr Vinaychandra Banavathy are two of the best doctors in the world. Through the NEP, the panel focused on employability and leadership. The panellists' perspectives on concrete and intangible aims and ways to improve employability and finding, nurturing, and developing leaders were well established.

In developing the leadership component, Q&A on policies for manpower management, statistical evidence of the quantity of job opportunities, and the management motto of doing the right things the right way were formed.

The event was concluded with a brief presentation on Chanakya University – its vision and objectives along with the programme offerings and upcoming event – Exams Made Easy was projected to circulate followed by a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Vasu B.A. Feedback forms for the participants was circulated to capture the response.
