Employers from well-known companies look for GNA University students to fill open positions. Almost all of GNA University's B.Tech Mechanical and Automation Engineering and B.Tech Robotics and Automation Engineering graduates from the 2024 batch have been hired by major corporations. Dr. C.R. Tripathy, Dean School of Engineering Design and Automation said, “Almost all candidates who completed their B.Tech Mechanical and Automation and B.Tech Robotics & Automation Engineering in the year 2024 got placements in FANUC, International Tractors Limited (ITL), Design Tech System Pvt. Ltd., NTF India Ltd, New Era Machines, Automation System, Wipro Pari, EBZ Group, Power System & Control and many more.

Dr. C.R. Tripathy congratulated Mr.Aishmeet Singh on being offered a lucrative position at FANUC during his last semester.The selection procedure involved a thorough review of the student's talents, which included a written exam, an individual talent assessment, and a rigorous examination of technical ability. 7th Annual Athletics Meet @ GNA University

April 18, 2024:  The Department of Physical Education and Sports at GNA University organised the seventh annual athletic meet. Students from the University's numerous schools participated enthusiastically and in good spirits. The main goal of the annual meet was to encourage the staff and students towards sportsmanship. Balraj Singh Chauhan, a senior cyclist, was the event's Chief Guest, with Dr. VK Rattan, the Vice Chancellor, presiding over the sports event. Mr Balraj Singh Chouhan, the event's Chief Guest, praised the participants for their zeal and encouraged them to thrive in both academics and sports. He also encouraged the children to continue their athletic pursuits by informing them that he had cycled over 1.5 million km to far. 

Approximately 350 students of various schools of the University participated in various track and field events such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m Relay, Shot put, Javelin Throw and Tug of War. Additionally, staff members competed in races, Tug of War and musical chair contests. Gurpreet Singh and Tapsee, representing the School of Physical Education and Sports, emerged as the overall champions by winning their respective categories and securing the overall trophy for the School of Physical Education and Sports. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. VK Rattan, distributed prizes to the winners and congratulated them. He even stated that sports provide a sound health to our body. Sports should be a routine feature of our daily existence.  Dr. Parm Preet, Head of the School of Physical Education and Sports thanked the Chief Guest, the University staff, Sports coordinators of various Schools, and students for their active participation in the event.  S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Chancellor applauded the endeavours of the School of Physical Education and Sports for putting up a great show. He encouraged the students to be more active in sports and excel in this field. 

The Live Stand-Up Comedy Show' @ GNA University

April 18, 2024:  GNA University sponsored 'The Live Stand-Up Comedy Show' on its campus. Mr. Pritish Narula, the renowned standup comedian, wowed the crowd with his exquisite sense of humour. The Marketing Club of GNA Business School organised the event. The primary goal of the event was to help students improve their marketing and management abilities while also giving a much-needed respite from academics. The event exceeded all expectations thanks to the MBA students' combined efforts and the direction of Dr. Ramandeep Singh, Head of Department, and Dr. Manpreet Kaur.

Major sponsorship for the event was generously provided by 'The Club House' of Gilco Green, with additional support from Sagoo Aluminium and Design Hut, highlighting the strong community ties and support for educational initiatives. Pritish Narula's side-splitting performance brought waves of laughter and joy, offering attendees a chance to unwind and recharge amidst their busy schedules. Dr. Sameer Varma, Dean GNA Business School ensured flawless execution, contributing to the overall success of the evening. He even congratulated the entire School for this event brimming with inevitable fun. The event received commendation from S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Chancellor. JOB FAIR 2024 @ GNA UNIVERSITY

April 18, 2024: GNA University organised a job fair for Punjab's young with the goal of providing different employment options under one roof. GNA University's career fair attracted over 500 participants. The show attracted 40 well-known companies from all fields of interest. Swaraj, Lenskart, Reliance, Axis Bank, GNA Gears, eClery, and many other companies were exclusively represented at the employment expo. Various venues were opened for the participants to present their potential in the aspiring field. Registrations of the participants were totally free and open to all. The Job Fair provided the candidates with opportunities to interact with prosperous recruiters and share important information pertaining to their profile.  

Gurdeep Singh, the Chancellor, GNA University exclaimed, “The Job Fair @ GNA University is organized to orient the students to the various options that they have along with the available routes to enter various careers.”  Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics said, “I appreciate the efforts of the Placement Cell. Bollywood Fame Ashish Vidyarthi’s Motivational Session @ GNA University 

April 18, 2024: GNA University organized a motivational session of the renowned Bollywood fame Ashish Vidyarthi at the lush green sprawling campus of the University. The main objective of this motivational session was to encourage the faculty and staff of the University to unleash all their hidden talents and rise above the normal to do something extraordinary each day. Dr. Disha Khanna, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, set the stage for the cinematic figure by reading Mr. Ashish Vidyarthi's mesmerising writings to the entire audience. According to the speaker, "To grow yourself, start looking for what inspires you, then nurture the journey towards that." Dr. Disha Khanna, the Master of Ceremonies, promised the audience an eye-opening session with the most sought-after motivational speaker.

Ashish Vidyarthi , National Award Winning Actor, Co-founder of Avid Miner & Best Travel & Food Vlogger   titled his motivational speech as “ Zindagi Mein Bahut Kuch Karna Hai ”. His complete session raised goose bumps amongst the audience with his spell bound speech. He said, “Learning is an unending curve and I call myself as ‘Lifelong Vidyarthi ’.  The speaker also shared his life experiences and how he is always geared up to do something every day. GNA University Organises Management Development Program (MDP) on Management Development Program on Leveraging Business Growth through Digital Marketing”

July 20, 2023: A Management Development Programme (MDP) titled "Management Development Programme on Leveraging Business Growth through Digital Marketing" was organised by GNA University. This MDP's main goal was to give participants the information and abilities they needed to apply digital marketing methods for business growth. The participants of this MDP were professionals, entrepreneurs, and marketing executives from various industries. Participants from Jaycees of Zone I and Lahgu Udhyog Bharti Phagwara had the opportunity to attend engaging sessions led by industry experts, including Ankita Vishvakarma and Saatvik Ruddra, renowned digital marketing specialists known for their expertise in digital marketing. Through interactive workshops, participants applied their learnings to real-world scenarios, developing digital marketing campaigns tailored to their own businesses.

Participants were encouraged to network and work together, creating a lively learning environment. Participants' feedback was overwhelmingly good and praised the resource people's knowledge, practical application, and thoroughness.Dr VK Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor affirmed the university's commitment to offer the best platform for connecting academia with industry. GNA University Signed MoU with Food Industry Capacity & Skill Initiative

July 17, 2023: A MOU has been signed between the GNA Centre of Excellence for Culinary Arts and the Skill Initiative at GNA University Phagwara. This MOU's goal was to create a framework for cooperation and collaboration in order to further academics and research, faculty and student professional growth and certification, curriculum development, webinars, and joint placements. The representatives from Dr VK Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Hemant Sharma, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Kunal Bains, Deputy Registrar, Dr Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics and Dr Deepak Kumar, Dean School of Hospitality and the representatives from Food Industry Capacity by Puspita Rana- Manager Industry and Placement and Shafat Khan- Deputy Manager Curriculum design and development. This MOU will be initially valid for 3 years and further renewable.

GNA University Student Secures 6th Position in All India Red Hat Competition

May 27, 2023: When Prabhjot Kaur, a bright B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) student, took sixth place in the All India Red Hat Competition, it was a happy occasion for GNA University. Red Hat IT and Aptitude Test India 2023 were attended by Prabhjot, who won a tablet from Red Hat. The Red Hat IT Aptitude Test is designed to evaluate a person's aptitude for undertaking particular activities, identifying their areas of strength and progress as well as their aptitude for succeeding in particular circumstances. Questions on both technical and aptitude topics are included in this test.

The university administration praised her for her significant accomplishment and encouraged her to take part in more similar activities.

GNA University, School of Computational Science Organises a Workshop on International Digital Business Development in collaboration with BizDev Worldwide Ads. Pvt. Ltd.

May 4, 2023: GNA University, School of Computational Science organized a Workshop on International Digital Business Development in collaboration with BizDev Worldwide Ads. Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Rahul Raj was the resource person, who facilitated this session concerning the latest trends in digital marketing, social media, and marketing campaigns. In total, 52 students attended this workshop. The objective of this Workshop was to go beyond the basics of Digital Marketing in the growing world. The students got the opportunity to know about the tactics and standards of digital marketing.

High educational standards helped the students grasp many marketing concepts and tactics in the world that was collapsing. This Workshop covered all the crucial facets of branding and promoting goods and services, from starting a business to developing a brand. The workshop gave the untrained learners the tools they needed to uphold their future morals and professional prospects. Additionally, it improved the current value of digital marketing and gave students practical experience with paid marketing and SEO. The five-day workshop ended with a celebration of the student's efforts. The Workshop awarded each student a certificate of participation. Dean Dr Vikrant Sharma and HoD Dr Hitesh Marwaha complimented the administration for giving the students a free platform. GNA University, School of Hospitality (SOH) Organises One Day Workshop on “Art of Aspic Jelly”

May 4, 2023: Celebrity Chef Khursheed Alam, Executive Chef of the Hotel Mariton in Jalandhar, conducted a one-day workshop on the "Art of Aspic Jelly" at the GNA University's School of Hospitality (SOH). With 8 lakh subscribers, chef Khursheed Alam has his own YouTube channel, "Bargain ka Chef". This workshop's main goal was to demonstrate the extremely skilled craft of cold work performed in the Garde Manger portion.

Chef Alam has worked with both domestic and foreign hospitality companies. A range of cold dishes, including pate, Terrine, and other cold savoury and sweet dishes made with fruits and jellies were discussed by the resource person. The chef provided tips for preparing the materials and revealed techniques for setting jelly, demolding, and displaying Aspic. The lesson was enjoyable for the students, and they engaged with the resource person in useful ways. Under the direction of the Chef, the students performed a presentation of cold preparations during the Workshop. The dishes prepared by the students were appreciated and enjoyed by Dr VK Rattan, Vice-Chancellor, Dr Hemant Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr Deepak Kumar, Dean SOH, and Dhiraj Pathak, HOD SOH. They were inspired to keep up with the most recent methods in their field.

May 4, 2023: A guest lecture on "Innovation and Technological Advancements of Optical Fibre Communication" was organised by the School of natural sciences at GNA University. GNA University, School of Hospitality (SOH), GNA University Successfully Attempted Asia Book of Records 

April 28, 2023: Asia Book of Records was successfully accomplished by GNA University's School of Hospitality (SOH). In this record attempt, 30 students and faculty members from the School of Hospitality made "Maximum Flavours of Virgin Mojito in 45 minutes." 2100 distinct tastes of virgin Mojitos were produced for this historical event. The main goals of setting this record were to provide a baseline and standard in the form of an international record, to inspire and link students with professionals in the field, and to expand internationally. Dr Sanjeev Sood, Dayanand Ayurvedic College Principal in Jalandhar, served as the competition's adjudicator for the Asia Book of Records. 

In order to compare, compete, and win the title of "Asia Book of Records" Holder, the record holders of all significant National "Book of Records"—including those from India, Vietnam, Indo-China, Laos, and Nepal—meet on the Asia Book of Records platform. 'Asia Book of Records currently has a robust database with 40,000 entries. In the presence of S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, President of GNA Gears, Dr VK Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Hemant Sharma, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics, Dr Deepak Kumar (Dean SOH), and other dignitaries, Gursaran Singh Sihra, Chairman of the GNA Group and well-known social worker, officially opened the event.

GNA University Organises a Workshop on CNC Technology under the SEDA FANUC Center of Excellence

April 20, 2023: As part of its outreach and extension programme through its SEDA-FANUC Centre of Excellence (COE), the District Education Department of Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with GNA University, Phagwara, held a 2-day workshop on CNC technology for students in the 10+2 vocational stream (Mechanical and Automobile). This workshop's major goal was to give participants advanced instruction in mechanical design, CNC turning, CNC simulator, and fused deposition modelling. The programme on modern technology drew more than 120 kids from several local schools. The workshop's first day began with a lecture on the most recent technology utilised in product design and production. The pupils were familiar with the Auto CAD programme used to create the designs. The pupils created their own sketches for the various elements after the lesson. The students produced their own part programmes of the drawings they had created using Auto CAD software on the second day of the session after receiving training on the FANUC CNC Simulator. The students evaluated and simulated their created programmes using the CNC Simulator. After that, they were led to a CNC machine which they used it to mill the workpiece in accordance with their blueprints.

After the training was completed successfully, a certificate distribution ceremony was held, which was attended by the faculty from the various schools as well as Prof. CR Tripathy, Dean SEDA, Dr VK Rattan, Vice-Chancellor of GNA University, Dr Hemant Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics. All of the academic members and students were formally greeted by Prof. C.R. Tripathy, who also showed them the CNC Simulator and CNC Machine facilities.  He spoke of the importance of the Centre of Excellence and its objectives. He added that the goal of COE is to prepare our engineering students for the workplace. This aided them in comprehending CNC machinery and the construction of real industrial automation systems connected to CNC machines used to make dies and moulds.

Vice Chancellor of the GNA University, Dr VK Rattan, emphasised that "Such Workshops under FANUC COE will prove to be the best practises for making the students skillful and industry ready employable." Additionally, he emphasises that for a bright future, students should utilise the CoE to the most. He also expressed his gratitude to Amrik Singh, the district's chief career counsellor, Dheeraj Vashist, the district's deputy district education officer, and S. Harbhagwant Singh for choosing and supporting GNA University to host this CNC Technology workshop.

GNA University Organises a 5-day cookery Workshop/Value-Added Course on “The Lost Recipes of the World” by a Celebrity Chef. Ashish Bhasin (Founder & Director CB Hospitality)
April 20, 2023: Celebrity Chef Ashish Bhasin (Founder & Director CB Hospitality) held a 5-day cooking workshop/value-added course on "The Lost Recipes of the World" at GNA University's School of Hospitality (SOH). The major goal of this workshop was to educate students about the history of food and traditional cooking methods. This class was based on a traditional, rural method of cooking called "Khad Cooking," which is the oldest method still in use in a number of nations and involves cooking meals underground on low heat for a prolonged period of time. 
 
For more than 25 years, Chef Bhasin has worked as an executive chef and director of F&B service and culinary, shared a variety of long-lost recipes from around the world, and instructed students on how to sharpen their culinary skills. These brands include Oberoi and Leela. He discussed the development of food and culinary methods as well as the history behind the creation of recipes by famous chefs. In addition to teaching pupils how to cook, the chef held a unique session where he covered business growth and brand design. The value-added course was well received by the students. On the last day of the workshop, 200 pax were served the delicacies that had been created and learned throughout this course at a buffet that had been organised by the students under the direction of Chef Bhasin. The dishes prepared by the students were enjoyed by the Pro-Chancellor S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Vice-Chancellor Dr VK Rattan, the Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Hemant Sharma, the Dean of Academic Affairs Dr Monika Hanspal, the Dean of SOH Dr Deepak Kumar, and the Head of SOH Dhiraj Pathak, who also encouraged the students to keep their spirits up and succeed in their careers.
 
GNA University Hosts an Inter-College Competition – Kshitiz 2023

April 11, 2023: Kshitiz 2023, an annual event, was held at GNA University and featured 13 competitions, including the Business Quiz, Electro Hunt, Master Chef, Punjabi Folk Dance Group, Code Craze, Digital Design Contest, Photography, CAD Contest, CNC Simulator, Competition, Gaming Mania, Flight Simulation Competition, Design E India Website Development, and Best out of Waste. The Chief Guest was Mr. V. With the Chief Guest's blessing, the event was officially launched. "GNA University is making wonderful efforts," he remarked. I'm incredibly happy to see so many students from all around Punjab participating. Even more, he wanted everyone who participated in Kshitiz 2023 to remember it as a special annual event.

The first-place team received a cash prize of Rs. 5100, the second-place team received Rs. 3100, and the third-place team received Rs. 2100 in cash in addition to the winning trophy, certificates, and an overall prize package worth Rs. 11000. DAVIET, Jalandhar, was awarded the overall trophy. It was a truly fascinating event for the audience, giving the pupils plenty of opportunity to learn about and explore new concepts, ideas, and facts. Renowned judges from all across Punjab as well as all of the deans, heads, and employees of GNA University attended the tournament. 
 
GNA-IIC under the Flagship of MHRD Organises an Amazing Session on "How to plan for start-ups and legal and ethical steps"

April 10, 2023: How to plan for start-ups and the legal and ethical steps has been the subject of an extraordinary session organised by GNA-IIC under the auspices of MHRD. Dr Sanjiv Gupta, a management consultant and trainee mentor with extensive experience in this area, served as the resource person. The major goal of this seminar was to motivate the participants to launch their own businesses and to teach them how to turn their ideas into start-ups. It also attempted to change people's mindsets from ones of job seekers to ones of job creators.
Dr Sanjiv Gupta gave a clear and concise explanation of the step-by-step process for managing a successful startup. He also discussed the legal and moral requirements they must meet in order to implement their company ideas.

Additionally, Gupta provided thoughts on startups, invention, innovation, and re-engineering. He also discussed several business tactics with the students, such as the "Blue Ocean" and "Red Ocean" techniques, which provided them with useful information. The resource person also informed the kids of ways to raise money for their project. He discussed angel investors, venture capitalists, bank loans, etc. Additionally, he discussed the numerous forms of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, etc. "Don't worry about the failure, you only have to be right once," he advised the pupils. Failure is essential in life because it teaches us what to avoid doing. Additionally, it's crucial to learn from others' errors, and Dr. Gupta beautifully outlined the benefits in his explanation. In the end, the resource person also cleared the students queries and their doubts. The session was very informative and interesting. It was a fruitful & appreciable initiative by the GU-IIC and it aimed to continue to do the same in future too for the overall development of the students.

GNA University Organises a Workshop on "Academic Writing"
April 4, 2023: The GNA University's Research and Development Cell organised a two-day workshop on "Academic Writing." Teachers, researchers, and post-graduate and graduate students were invited to the programme. Dr Deepti Gupta, dean of international student affairs and professor of English at Panjab University, Chandigarh, opened the first day. She attended the class on Academic Writing: Types, Parameters, and Mapping. This lesson was insightful and appreciative.
Dr Apara Sharma, Assistant Professor at MCM DAV College in Chandigarh, handled Day 2 of the Workshop expertly. She informed the participants about the need to improve their writing abilities as well as the complete academic writing process. Together with her team, Dr. Neeraj Puri, Assistant Dean, Research and Development Cell, organised the training. At the conclusion of the event, she gave a vote of thanks. The Pro-Chancellor, S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, appreciated the efforts made by the study Division to elevate the study through such engaging and educational Workshops. 
GNA University Organises Two Days Workshop on “Big Data Analytics Tools”

April 4, 2023: For the B.Tech. CSE students, the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the School of Engineering, Design and Automation (SEDA) organised a two-day course on "Big Data Analytics Tools." The Workshop's reference person was Rocky Bhatia, a Solutions Architect at Adobe with experience in data engineering, system design, architecture, cloud technology, data science, and other technical fields. The Workshop's goal was to familiarise the students with the tools and methods needed to handle sizable databases. All of the participants and experts in the Workshop were greeted by Dr Vikrant Sharma, Professor and Dean-SEDA.  Introduction to Big Data, Distributed Computing, HDFS Architecture, Blocks, Replication, Map Reduce, Hadoop, Hive Query Language, YARN, NoSQL, HBase, Oozie, Real-time Data Mining using Spark Streaming, Elastic Search, Kibana, and Kafka was among the topics addressed in the workshop. Students actively engaged in practical training during the interactive session and asked inquisitively about career choices in the data science field. 

The provost of GNA University, S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, congratulated all of the participants on finishing the course effectively as well as the event's organisers. He advised the students to take pleasure in being a part of this distinguished course and wished all the participants great success, saying that "this event is simply the beginning for providing solutions to make a better future."

GNA University School of Engineering, Design and Automation established an ISTE Students' Chapter in the University

April 4, 2023: The 1968-founded Indian organisation for Technical Education, which has 430 chapters nationwide and its national headquarters in New Delhi, is the top technical organisation in the nation. This society has made a reputation for itself at the national level with the motto of career development of teachers and personality development of students, leading to the overall growth of our technical education system. This chapter in Phase-I is made up of more than 200 pupils. In order to provide aspiring engineers with the most recent advancements and significant developments relating to the field of technical education, it will assist in organising a variety of guest talks, workshops, and events.

April 4, 2023: On March 23, 2023, the day of "SHAHEED DIWAS," the GNA University NSS chapter arranged a "Anti-Drugs Cycle Rally" in Hoshiarpur City in conjunction with the district administration and the Fit Bikers club. The primary goal of this cycle rally was to raise public consciousness of the need to eradicate the evil known as drugs. As a tribute to the Indian martyrs, the event began with a warm-up exercise that included some nationalistic songs.The individuals appear eager to start their individual cycles. DSP (city) Palwinder Singh, S. Harbhagwant Singh, District Education Officer, Director Sachdeva Stocks, Mr. Ranvir Sachdeva, Dupty Registrar Mr. Kunal Bains- GNA University, Mr. Munir, Mr. Balraj Singh Chauhan, Mr. with Mr. Rajesh Bali, and Er. Gurmeet Singh participated in the flag-off ceremony for the rally. (PRO GNA University).

Around 380 people or more took part in this rally and sailed up the event with the slogan "YOUTH ANGAINST DRUGS." Schools, colleges, and young people from India participated in the program, along with cyclists and other fitness enthusiasts who cycled throughout the entire city. This rally encompassed 25 significant locations over a distance of 15 kilometres in Hoshiarpur.  The cyclists shouted slogans and raised awareness for everyone who is struggling with the drug issue and its causes during the event.

The campaign was a grand success as the message reached out to the people who are dealing with the problem of drugs. On the success of the Campaign, the Pro-Chancellor S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra said, “Let’s take an oath to make Punjab drug-free and promise that our state is going to touch the newer heights of improvement.”Dr Hemant Sharma, the Pro Vice-Chancellor appreciated the huge gathering of people of all the age groups and said, “I am beholden to all the martyrs, who had given their lives to make India better.”

GNA Business School Organises ‘The Live Stand-Up Comedy Show’ 

March 10, 2023: The Live Stand-Up Comedy Concert, performed by renowned comic Manpreet Singh a.k.a. "Comic Singh," was arranged by GNA Business School. This event was planned to help students develop their marketing and management skills. Under the direction of Gurdeep Sihra, the provost of GNA University, Phagwara, the event was organised and carried out by the students of the GNA Business School. Almost 400 attendees from the surrounding areas made the performance a sellout. The pupils planned the entire production. The students applied their marketing skills and even grabbed sponsors for the show.

Comedian Singh made the audience laugh and relieve their stress from their busy schedules with his entertaining act. Under the direction of Dr Sameer Varma, Dean of the GNA Business School, and Dr Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, the event was successfully organised.
"I am thrilled to watch how the students have encashed their classroom theoretical knowledge into hands-on practice and made this event a magnificent success," said Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the provost. The marketing club's efforts were valued and praised by Dr VK Rattan, Vice-Chancellor; Dr Hemant Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor; and Dr Monika Hanspal, Dean of Academics & Systems and Operations.

GNA University- Technology Business Incubator (GU-TBI) Signed an MoU with Innovation Mission Punjab (Mohali) 

March 9, 2023: The Innovation Mission Punjab and the GNA University-Technology Business Incubator (GU-TBI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU between the Innovation Mission and GU-TBI aims to build and promote the ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship through cooperative efforts. S. Gurdeep Singh Sirha, the pro-chancellor of GNA University, stated on this occasion that students must bring their creative solutions to solve current challenges and that GU-TBI is completely prepared to support eager and aspiring faculty members in the best way possible.

 GNA University Collaborates with DST, NCSTC & DST and Organises National Science Day on the theme “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”

March 2, 2023: Faculty of Natural Sciences of GNA University in collaboration with DST, NCSTC & DST organised National Science Day on the theme “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”. The sole objective behind the event was to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Dr C.V. Raman (Nobel Prize in Physics).

More than 200 students from the University and other institutions registered for and enthusiastically participated in this event. The occasion featured a number of events, including a quiz competition, a poster presentation, a model display, a competition for science rangoli, and a science movie show. More than 160 students participated in the quiz competition and took the test. Sumit Kumar and Tarun Kumar were named the first-place winners after three rounds of competition, Seeya Janjua and Vivek Saini took second place, and Rahul Kumar and Rahul (Third Prize). The winners of these activities were Komal Sharma (First Prize), Dilpreet Kaur (Second Prize), Muskan, and Mehak Thakur, and 23 students presented their thoughts and solutions for global concerns and challenges in the poster presentations (Third Prize).

18 students participated in the model display, which showcased the current demand for technologies in global development. Garvit and Himashu won the first prize, Labhesh Phul and Jasmeet Kaur took home the second prize, and Dinesh and Abhishek took home the third prize (Third Prize). 32 students competed in the Science Rangoli competition, where they used various attractive pictures to highlight the significance of National Science Day. The winners were Ravneet Kaur and Pooja Sandhu (First Prize), Kashish and Tanishka (Second Prize), and Gagandeep Kaur and Priyanka (Third Prize) (Third Prize).

In the Science Movie showcase, Sci-fi movie Interstellar was displayed among more than 300 students in the auditorium where they developed the importance of sciences and technologies in human life. At the end of the event, prize distribution function was facilitated in the presence of worthy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr Hemant Sharma and worthy Dean Academics Dr Monika Hanspal, who distributed the trophies and certificates to the winners of the events and congratulated them for their achievements.

The event delivered a message about the importance of science in daily life, discussed current issues in the field of science, and encouraged youth to popularise science and technology to seek novel solution.

 GNA University Organises Boot Camp on “DevOps” 

February 25, 2023: The GNA University Faculty of Engineering, Design, and Automation organised a three-day DevOps Boot Camp for students and teachers in computer science and engineering. The boot camp's primary goal was to increase emphasis on the opportunities for practical learning and employment in the DevOps field. The keynote guest was Mr. Shubham Londhe, a senior software engineer from Vamstar in Pune.

All camp participants and experts were greeted by Dr. Vikrant Sharma, Dean-FEDA. Linux Administration, Git & GitHub, Docker commands, YAML, SonarQube, Jenkins, Integration of GitHub with Jenkins, and CICD Project were the major topics covered in the boot camp. The number of pupils who attended this camp was over 70. The instructors gave the students practical experience using Devops to develop, build, test, and deploy.

The students also learned how to use technologies like Jenkins, Docker, and Github to automate the integration and deployment process. A CI-CD project submission challenge using all the technologies they had learned during the boot camp was also held at the conclusion. All cloud computing students and staff members benefited from this camp because it improved their understanding of working with DevOps.

GNA University Organises 1-Day International Conference on Hospitality & Tourism

February 15, 2023: Under the auspices of ICOHOST 2023, the Department of Hospitality at GNA University hosted the Fifth International Conference on Hospitality & Tourism for one day. "Rethinking Tourism: Reshaping the Future of Hospitality and Tourism Industry" was the Conference's primary theme. The Conference's primary goal was to get the attendees to reevaluate the direction of the hospitality and tourism industry.

The inauguration of the Conference was done by Prof. Hemant Sharma, Pro Vice- Chancellor, GNA University. On this occasion, the Chief Guest was Mr. Shivdular Singh Dhillon, IAS (Retd.) Secretary cum Chief Executive Officer, Punjab State Red Cross. The Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Robert J. Thompson, CHA, TMP, Willium Carey University, USA and Dr. Nimit Chaudhary, Professor, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Faculty of Management Studies, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi. On this occasion, the Guest of Honour was Dr. Savita Sharma, Associate Professor, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Gurugram. The eminent industry experts were Dr. Chef Parvinder Singh Bali, Corporate Chef- Learning and Development, The Oberoi Centre of Learning & Development.

The Conference attracted a sizable delegation and study participants from all over the nation. On this occasion, industry expert conducted interaction with students and panel discussion was also held. Delegates and research scholars from across the nation presented 20 research papers during two technical sessions. GNA University Inks MoU with International Tractors Limited (ITL), Sonalika

January 31, 2023: In order to teach its students about the most recent and cutting-edge technologies being used by industry, GNA University has always been renowned for keeping a strong industry-academia interface. With this in view, GNA University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with International Tractors Limited (ITL), Sonalika, one of the top tractor manufacturers in India, for the advanced training and placement of students.
With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, GNA University has become the first institution in North India to collaborate with ITL Group as part of its Academic Collaboration for Excellence initiative to close the skills gap between academia and industry.

To the delegates of the ITL, CR Tripathy, Dean FEDA-D, demonstrated the advanced design and manufacturing facilities of the University's product design labs for Creo from PTC, USA, Catia from Dassault Systems, France, NX CAD/CAM Lab from Siemens, Germany, Rapid Prototyping (3D printing) facility from Stratasys USA, CMM lab, and Robotics and Automation lab. GNA University Organises Mega 36-Hour Long GNA Hachathon 1.0

December 6, 2022: On December 3–4, 2022, GNA University hosted the "GNA Hackathon 1.0," a 36–hour event. Over 450 students from 150+ teams representing more than 50 Indian universities and institutions participated in this 36-hour non-stop mega event to demonstrate their technical innovations and abilities for the good of society.

The inaugural ceremony took place on December 3, 2022, and participants included students, judges who were senior professionals from the IT sectors, as well as domain experts serving as mentors. Dr Vikrant Sharma, Dean of FEDA(E) and FCS, emphasised the value of hackathons and stated that innovation is about doing things differently. He publicly welcomed everyone who came from all over the state and expressed his appreciation for the students' engaged involvement.

The gathering was filled with contagious and overwhelming energy and enthusiasm from everyone. There was an overwhelming sense of optimism and hope for the future on campus. Numerous young people were inspired by this exceptional event to transform their knowledge into skills that would help our nation address many pressing problems. Shubham Kumar, Ritik Kumar, Manan Sehgal, and Ankush from GNA University won the overall trophy and a cash prize of INR 11,000. The second-place team from DAVIET won the second prize worth INR 5100, and the third-place team from GNA University won the consolation award worth INR 3100.

GNA University  Organises Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) in Joint Efforts with Startup Punjab

November 30, 2022: Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) for Schools was offered by GNA University- Technology Business Incubator (GU-TBI) in collaboration with Pushpa Gujral Science City and Startup Punjab, Mohali. Students learned about the numerous programmes available to launch their businesses.

The EDP expert speaker, S. Paramjit Singh, Director RCED, Chandigarh, inspired the kids to choose entrepreneurship as a career. He also describes the numerous government programmes accessible to women and schoolchildren. He continued by saying that the RCED and the GU-Technology Firm Incubator (GU-TBI) are prepared to assist any student who wishes to launch their own business.

GNA University Hosts Autodesk Product Workshop

April 8, 2022: In partnership with Autodesk, GNA University hosted a four-day programme titled "Future of Making Things." The workshop was attended by around 250 students from BTech Mechanical and Automation Engineering, B.Tech Robotics and Automation Engineering, and MTech CAD/CAM. The workshop's goal was to provide students with hands-on experience with the Autodesk product.

Anil Chauhan kicked off the workshop with a note on the necessity of CAD software skills in today's world. The significance of Autodesk products was also emphasised. The students were given a thorough understanding of the modelling process using Autodesk products. During the workshop, each student created a CAD model with the Autodesk Fusion 360 software. Students learnt how to make cloud-based projects, cloud-based data management, 2D sketches, 3D features, and assembly modelling methodologies, as well as associative detail drawings and assembly animation, during this course.

According to CR Tripathy, Dean Faculty of Engineering Design and Automation, “such workshops and interactive sessions provide students with practical experience that will help them when they enter the workforce. Students already have good exposure in CAD, CAM, CAE, and RPT Technology. Therefore it will be beneficial and advantageous for them to have insight to the newest technology. This will provide new engineers with an excellent start in their careers at the global level.”

After completing the session, students obtained an awareness of the technologies employed in Global as part of Industry 4.0. The session came to an end with a valedictory event. GNA University and Autodesk executives presented the appreciation certificates to the Best Performer Teams.

Guest Lecture On Scriptwriting For Mainstream Media

June 4, 2021: GNA University's Faculty of Animation and Multimedia hosted a skilful guest lecture on Script Writing for Mainstream Media. On May 4, 2021, Ravi Shankar Tiwari, Senior Journalist AAJ TAK, spoke to students of journalism and animation about scriptwriting for mainstream media.

The session was more creative, with a lot of new information, and Tiwari broke the ice by telling the researchers how he got this far in the field. From Jamia Milia Islamia student to zee News DNA researcher to extremely known journalist from Aaj Tak. Tiwari provided the students with energising insights into narrative philosophy as it relates to film and television writing. He discussed story structure, the intense arc, plot aspects, and much more. With instructional script-to-news examples ranging from Regional News Channels to National News Channels, he brought the concept to life.

He advised them on how to pitch an article and how to find stories that newspapers and television stations would like to commission. Ravi expressed his thoughts on what a journalist should be like. He asserted that inquisitiveness is the most important attribute in a Broadcaster. Before making any assumptions, he should examine everything about every incidence in detail. The students had the opportunity to hear from a seasoned journalist who readily imparted information while interspersing it with a healthy dose of humour. “As a reporter, you must always inquire, inquire, inquire, and then authenticate,” says the author.

Guest Lecture On Applications Of Probability Distributions

June 2, 2021: On May 28 at 9:30 am, the Faculty of Natural Sciences hosted an online guest lecture in Mathematics on the topic ‘Applications of Probability Distributions’ for students of BSc (Honours) Mathematics second semester and BTech CSE/ CC/ IOT second semester using the online platform Blackboard.

Dr CP Gandhi, Professor and Head of Department, University School of Sciences, Rayat Bahra University, Chandigarh, delivered the Guest Lecture. Dr Gandhi has produced a number of books for BTech, BSc, and MSc students on Engineering Mathematics – I, II, III, Discrete Structure, and many others. Dr Gandhi discussed the subject in the lecture by starting with the fundamentals of probability. He described the concept of random variables and how they are used in probability calculations. He also went through the many types of samples, such as mean, median, and mode.

The variance and standard deviation are calculated using various methods based on the available data in the questions. He went over the many types of distributions in-depth, including the Binomial, Normal, and Poisson distributions. He discussed their importance in the field of study as well as in various data calculations. He taught the subject with numerous practical examples and offered several mathematical tasks to the students so that they could learn more by doing hands-on practice on different types of difficulties. He discussed the issues of faulty products and data analysis.

At the end of the presentation, students had the opportunity to ask the resource person any questions or concerns they had. Dr Gandhi gives the students his phone number so that they can contact him at any moment if they have any questions or difficulties with the material in the future. There were over 63 people in attendance at this lecture. The presentation lasted over an hour and a half, during which time students learnt a lot and improved their understanding of the idea, which will benefit them in their studies.

Guest Lecture On Phases Of Entrepreneurship By Entrepreneur- Director Clients Code, Leena Chhabra

March 24, 2021: On March 15, 2021, the GNA Business School at GNA University hosted a Guest Lecture on Phases of Entrepreneurship for students in their final year of BBA, BCOM, and MBA in the University's Seminar Hall. The same event was also attended by GBS faculty members. The session aimed at infusing the entrepreneurial skills and competencies amongst students and to teach them how to initiate an entrepreneurial venture. To facilitate the session, the University invited Leena Chhabra, Entrepreneur-Director Clients Code and State President of Punjab Digital Media Council, WICCI, as the session's esteemed resource person.

She initiated the session by first engaging students in various mind games and situational exercises in order to elicit various points of view from them. She then went on to discuss what qualifications are required to become an entrepreneur and the stages that an entrepreneur goes through. She also illustrated the phases by using real-life scenarios from various sectors and quotes from various companies to illustrate them.

The workshop also focused on inspiring young minds with various concepts for new business projects and how these innovations can be turned into lucrative opportunities. Overall, it was an enthralling session

Faculty Of Hospitality Conducts Webinar on ‘Career Prospects of Indian Hospitality Students in the USA’

March 24, 2021: The Faculty of Hospitality Department at GNA University hosted a webinar session on ‘Career Prospects of Indian Hospitality Students in the United States' with the goal of improving students' social media profiles, especially LinkedIn, the International Test of English Proficiency (ITEP), tips for approaching employers, and acing interviews. Dr Robert J Thompson, Chair and Assistant Professor, Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of South Alabama, USA, was invited by the university as the guest speaker. The students were enthusiastic about the presentation and posed several questions, to which the speaker replied.

The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Sandilyan Ramunujam Pagaldiviti; Professor and Dean, Faculty of Hospitality (FOH). President and Pro-Chancellor, GNA University, Gurdeep Singh Sihra said that such talks are vital for students to better prepare them to get placed internationally. Professor VK Rattan (Vice-Chancellor), Dr Raj Kumar Mahajan, (Registrar) and Professor (Dr) Monika Hanspal, (Dean Academics) and other dignitaries from GNA University also attended this event.

Panel Discussion on ‘Achieving Marketing Resilience in Turbulent Times’

February 11, 2021: The GNA Business School, as part of its flagship academic programme Corporate Knowledge Infusion Series, hosted the leading panel discussion on the subject ‘Achieving Marketing Resilience in Turbulent Times.’ The primary goal of this event was to familiarise students with current industry or market patterns, activities, and tactics.

Atin Khanna, Vice President & Priority Circle Manager, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Noida; Dilpreet Singh, Head CRM and Loyalty, The Oberoi Group, New Delhi; and Rahul Shrivastava, Head BD and Strategic Initiatives, Cambay Engineering Services, Hyderabad, were among the distinguished panelists.

The panelists used relevant examples from various business segments such as banking and financial, hotel, FMCG, and others to familiarise the students with the strategies used by business managers and marketers to increase customer confidence, trust, and engagement among B2C/ B2B consumers in order to generate loyal customers with higher patronage values.

Placements Update: GNA University’s Engineers Grab Challenging Placements

February 9, 2021: Despite the global economic downturn, GNA University continued to have quality placement options. Gulati Auto Electricals Pvt Ltd and JBMI Pune offered good placement opportunities to students from the Faculty of Engineering Design and Automation.

JBMI is a manufacturing firm that specialises in machined materials, press pieces, and die casting components for the automotive, electrical, and electronic industries, as well as the textile industry.

The BTech Mechanical and Automation Engineering students took part enthusiastically. Nitin Parmar, Raja, Rahul, Hari Om Shukla, Davinder, Amarjit Ram, and Vinay received their ‘much-awaited’ first placements at the beginning of the e-campus placement drive in Gulati Auto Electricals Pvt. Ltd. While four other students namely Surinder Singh, Jagdeep, Maninder and Akashdeep got the placement in JBMI Pune.

ECE is better for placement purposes. And companies offer higher packages for ECE branches comparatively to EEE coming under core branch so the placement goes for the low package. But it totally depends on you if you enhance the coding skills you can go for any higher package whether from ECE or EEE
