A:

Worthiness of MBA/PGDM at Guru Kashi University

Based on the student reviews and feedback, here's a summary of what you need to know:

* Limited Job Opportunities: Placements are mostly restricted to Marketing students, with a focus on Sales profiles, offering a salary range of INR2.5 Lakhs to INR3.0 Lakhs per annum. Other specializations, such as HR and Finance, may not find suitable job opportunities.
* Infrastructure and Facilities: The infrastructure is considered average, with classrooms lacking Air Conditioners (ACs). While projectors are present, there isn't a proper blackboard. Computer Labs and Library facilities are also limited.
* Teaching Quality: Professors are helpful and supportive, but lack high-level qualifications and experience. The teaching methodology focuses on theory over practical applications.
* Course Curriculum: The first-year curriculum seems acceptable, while the second year is deemed wasteful by many students.
* Placement Record: Although around 40% of students get placed, the average package offered ranges from INR4 Lakhs to INR7 Lakhs per annum.
* Other Aspects: Events and festivals are organized regularly, focusing on sports and athletic competitions. The location, near Bathinda, has limited market accessibility.

In conclusion, while Guru Kashi University might offer a relatively affordable education option, its limitations in terms of job opportunities, infrastructure, and teaching quality raise concerns about the program's overall value proposition.

Recommendation: Prospective students should weigh these factors carefully before deciding whether to invest in the MBA/PGDM programme at Guru Kashi University.

Q:   What are the fees structures for MBA programmes at Guru Kashi University?

A:

The fee structure for MBA programs at Guru Kashi University (GKU) can vary depending on several factors, making it difficult to provide a single definitive answer. Here's what you need to consider: First, the fee structure at GKU may depend on whether you are an international student or a domestic student. International students typically have higher tuition fees compared to domestic students. Additionally, the specific MBA programme you choose at GKU can also impact the fee structure, as certain specializations or concentrations may have different tuition rates.

Type of MBA Program:

  • Regular MBA: The fees for the regular MBA programme at GKU might range from Rs. 1.5 to 2 Lacs per semester,  depending on factors like category (general,  SC/ST/OBC) and scholarship options.

  • Specialized MBA: Some specialised MBA programs, like the MBA in Agri-Business Management or the MBA in Healthcare Administration, might have different fee structures,  potentially higher than the regular MBA program.

Additional Fees:

  • Apart from the tuition fees,  you might need to pay additional charges for registration,  examination,  library,  student activity,  hostel accommodation (if applicable),  etc.. These additional fees could be around Rs. 20,000–30,000 per year.

Finding Updated Information:

  • Official Website: The most reliable and up-to-date information on fee structures for specific MBA programs at GKU can be found on their official website. Look for the "Fees" section under the "Faculty of Management and Commerce" heading.

Recommendations:

It is recommended to reach out to current or former students of GKU who have pursued an MBA programme to get firsthand information about the fees and any hidden charges. Additionally, consulting with educational consultants or agencies specializing in MBA admissions can provide valuable insights and guidance on the fee structure at GKU.

  • Specify the type of MBA programme you're interested in (e.g.,  regular MBA,  MBA in Agri-Business Management) for a more accurate estimate of fees.

  • Consider additional costs like hostel accommodation (if needed) and travel expenses while budgeting for your studies.

  • Explore scholarship opportunities offered by GKU or external sources to minimize your financial burden.

Remember, information readily available online might not be completely accurate and updated. For the most reliable and relevant fee structure details, consulting the official university website or contacting the GKU Admissions Office directly is highly recommended. Additionally, it is important to factor in other potential expenses, such as textbooks, course materials, and any necessary equipment or technology for your chosen program. These costs can vary depending on the specific requirements of your courses. It is also worth considering the potential for part-time employment opportunities or internships that may help offset some of your expenses while studying at GKU.

Good infrastructure and Supportive behaviour of the Staffs
Placements: The highest package which student received in this college is 70 lakhs. There is a lot of company who came here for the placement for student. College offers in campus placement. Value added course and industry training program and the internship program which college offers are the reason that the student are selected easily in the placement.
Infrastructure: Hostels are divided into three facilities :- A/C, Cooler, and fan. There are two playgrounds for the students to play. It is fully covered by wifi . Meals are awesome. Wardens are more supportive. There are central library, and many computer labs are available.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and supportive. They are always ready for solving the problem for the student. It offers industry training program and Value added program for the students which can make the student's resume much more powerful. Semester exams are not hard as the exams are divided into many types of tests and MST and EST so the revision is already done.
Other: As the everything around us involving into science and AI so I prefer myself to do BCA. Because in reality I just want to become Cyber Security Analyst. I have taken arts in my intermediate so I am pursuing BCA. The student who have science in intermediate so they can go for B.Tech CS.

Not satisfied because there is no good infrastructure, campus and management.
Placements: In Agriculture Course, there is no placement opportunity. Only one company attempted to recruit , conducting interviews and information candidates; they were selected. However, after that, there has been no follow-up from the company HR.
Infrastructure: Hostels are not good not bad, just average. But college infrastructure like labs and classrooms is not good, and sittings are also bad. The main issue in summers is no proper fan working and in labs there is no AC. In classrooms, there are only 5 fans, and strength of the students is 60.
Faculty: Faculty is average, but every semester they change curriculum that might be difficult to understand. But the semester was not too difficult. Pass percentage is 60%. There was not even a single industrial visit in my course duration.
Other: B.Sc. agriculture course has a good future. Extracurriculars like events and fests are very less.

MBA in Human Resource Management - Batch of 2025

If you have a budget above INR 4 lakhs for MBA, don't consider GKU.
Placements: Placement is limited to the students of marketing, mainly in sales profile with CTC of 2.50 LPA to 3.00 LPA. No jobs for HR and finance profile. Chances are high that you may not get a job of your choice from here. You have to either compromise or remain jobless.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average. Classes are equipped with fans but no ACs. Yes, we have projectors in classrooms but no proper board for that. There is one smart lab & computer lab, but again with limited facilities. Yes, the quality of food in the hostel mess is good but rooms are overcrowded with 4 boys in a single room.
Faculty: Teaching faculty are helpful and supportive but lack high qualifications and experience. The way of teaching is very less practical. We have attended one industry visit to a Coca-Cola plant during our course. The course curriculum for the first year was fine but the second year is total waste. Semester exams are easy and not a thing to worry about. You can pass it easily.
Other: I chose HR in MBA because I am passionate to work with people. A more practical approach is needed in the way of teaching rather than focusing on just theoretical aspects. Yes, events and fest are regularly held here focusing more on sports and athletics. It's located far from Bathinda's main city in a village between paddy fields. No market access. You have to catch a bus to go to Bathinda.

Great Faculty and family-like College.
Placements: In our College, more than 78% of students are successfully placed in good companies like Legit Farms, IFFCO Yuva, Krishialpa Foundation, etc. The highest package is 5 Lacs per Annum, the lowest package is 10 Lacs per Annum. The average package offered in our course is 6 LPA. The students got many opportunities as Internship with a stipend of 10,000 with roles of Agri-Consultant.
Infrastructure: The facilities in our course, such as Books, Materials, Records, and Bluebooks for internals, we should pay for. In classrooms, there are Fans and Smart-TVs. The Library offers all facilities. Classrooms are large and spacious. The Hostel facilities are great. They offer more facilities, like food in the Mess. The quality of food in Mess is good. Medical facilities and many facilities. The Infrastructure of the College is good.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful in a college course, which is relevant to Agriculture. Teachers are helpful; they teach well and give good facilities. The teaching quality is good and more. The Course Curriculum is relevant, and The students are made ready for the Industry and give many facilities like Training and teaching Exams are Hard but we can pass 72%.

I am absolutely satisfied with the faculty and facilities offered by the GKU.
Placements: GKU offers placement opportunities to all the students in the MBA course. Around 40% of the students get successfully placed at our college. The average package offered was between 4 and 7 LPA. Various national and multinational companies visit the college for placements and internships.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the GKU available for the MBA was good. The college had a pretty big and beautiful campus. Facilities like Wi-Fi, computers, labs, libraries, canteens, halls, auditoriums, etc. were given to the students. A hostel was available for the students of the college. The facilities offered at the college were above average.
Faculty: GKU offers well-qualified and knowledgeable faculty for the MBA course. Teachers at the college were helpful and supportive of the students. They were making us understand all the concepts and clearing up all the doubts. The course curriculum of this college is relevant to the industry and it makes the students jobs-ready. Exams at the college were not hard to pass.

A glance of GKU. Faculty is very cooperative.
Placements: Our university offers negligible placement to agricultural students. Sometimes, from a single batch, no one is placed through the university placement drive. The highest package offered was about 6 lacs, the average was 4 lacs, and the lowest was 2.6 lacs. The top recruiting companies in my course are Bharat Pesticides and Mikado Crop Science. 5–10% of students got internships and the top roles offered were salesperson, research and development.
Infrastructure: The labs are equipped with modern instruments but we rarely use them. Classes are normal at any school in the city. There is no air conditioning in classes. Wi-Fi facility only for faculty members. Projectors are there in some classrooms. The boys hostel rooms have attached washrooms, while the girls hostel does not. Average medical facilities are there. Mess food is very bad. Sports and game facilities are the best. Our university will rank 5th in Khelo, India, in 2023.
Faculty: The teachers are very cooperative. Most of the teachers are not qualified at the doctoral level. But they are knowledgeable. Teaching quality is more or less good. The course curriculum is highly relevant. And yes, it interests the students a lot. The semester exams are not very difficult. We can even pass the examinations by studying 1 week before the exams. The passing percentage is around 70–75%.
Other: There are 240 students in mt batch (2021). The majority of the students are from southern states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, etc. I chose this course because there is a diversity of job and business opportunities in this field. Moreover, this field deals with the farmer at ground level. The best thing about this course is the practical knowledge outside the four walls. From my point of view, there is no improvement required in the course till now. Fest is there once in a year. Scholarships are only for SC and ST students. Connectivity is good and the college is near the city.

Admission FAQs

Q:   What are the minimum marks required for MBA at Guru Kashi University 2023?

A:

Determining the minimum marks required for an MBA at Guru Kashi University (GKU) in 2023 depends on several factors, making it impossible to provide a single definitive answer. However, I can provide you with some insights to help you estimate your chances:

Regular MBA:

  • Academic Qualification: You must have completed a recognised bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 55% aggregate marks. This is the minimum eligibility criteria for applying to the program.

  • Entrance Exam: While GKU doesn't mandate a specific entrance exam, they consider scores from various national and state-level MBA entrance exams, including CAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT, ATMA, and the Punjab University Management Entrance Test (PUMET). Scores from these exams contribute to your merit score, along with your bachelor's degree marks.

  • Merit Score: Admission is granted based on a combined score derived from your bachelor's degree marks and scores obtained in any of the accepted entrance exams. GKU gives weight to both components, and the relative weight for each may vary slightly year-to-year. However, scoring lower than 55% in your bachelor's might significantly disadvantage you, even with a good entrance exam score.

Specialized MBA (e.g., MBA in Agri-Business Management):

  • Specific requirements may differ depending on the specialization. For example, an MBA in Agri-Business Management requires a bachelor's degree in agriculture or a related field.

  • Similar to the regular MBA, scores from national and state-level MBA entrance exams are considered along with bachelor's degree marks for the merit score.

Additional Points to Consider:

  • Reservation: GKU follows reservation policies as per government guidelines for reserved categories like SC, ST, OBC, etc. This may affect the cut-off marks for different categories.

  • Work Experience: While not mandatory, some work experience can be advantageous in your application.

  • Selection Process: Beyond academic qualifications and entrance exams, GKU may also have additional selection processes like group discussions and personal interviews for certain cases.

Finding Updated Information:

  • Official Website: GKU posts the latest eligibility criteria and selection process details for their MBA programs on their official website. Check the "Admission" section under the "Faculty of Management and Commerce" heading.

  • University Admissions Office: Contacting the GKU Admissions Office directly is the best way to get the most up-to-date and specific information regarding minimum marks and the selection process for your desired MBA program.

In conclusion, while 55% is the minimum eligibility for applying, securing admission with that score might be challenging, especially for competitive specializations. A good entrance exam score can considerably improve your chances, but remember that GKU considers a composite merit score. For the most accurate assessment of your chances, contact the GKU Admissions Office and stay updated on their official website.

Q:   Can I get B.Tech at Guru Kashi University with 75 percentile in JEE?

A:

Based on the information provided, a JEE percentage of 75 generally qualifies candidates for B.Tech in Guru Kashi University, Bathinda. However, the exact limits change every year and may vary depending on factors such as grades and seat availability. According to the official website of Guru Kashi University, they require at least 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale for certain degree programs, indicating that a similar threshold may be applied to undergraduate courses through JEE. So, while a 75th percentile score in JEE should make you competitive for admission, it is important to check the specific cut-off marks published every year before assuming eligibility.
