On Fees and Eligibility

Q:   What is the selection process for LL.M and what is the minimum CLAT score required?

A:

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) PG Examination is considered one of India's most popular LLM entrance examinations. The CLAT examination consists of 150 questions, the exam follows a negative marking scheme. 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total score in the examination for every incorrect answer and the scores obtained in CLAT 2023 will determine applicants' merit ranks, which are used to make admission choices. The expected CLAT cutoffs for 2024 are 95-100 for general and 80-85 for SC/ST/OBC. Under the new pattern, it might be 80-90 for general and 70-80 for SC/ST/OBC.

Our college offers graduation, post graduation, and doctoral courses in law.
Placements: Huge placements are provided in our college. Around 78 students get placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is 12 LPA and the lowest salary package is 3.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are AZB and Partners, ICICI Bank, Wadia Handy, S&R Associate, Induslaw, Khaitan, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college has well-equipped modern facilities and amenities to support the academic and extracurricular activities of the students. It houses a well-stocked library, computer labs, moot court halls, sports facilities, hostels, gyms, and a cafeteria. It has a utility center, stationery shops, a fruit shop, a coffee house, a medical center, and food and beverages. Classrooms have air-conditioners and projectors. Our campus is huge, with a large cricket ground, a lakeside view with sitting arrangements, and many places to hang out with friends.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are experienced and dedicated to providing quality education to students. Some of them encourage students to engage in legal research, moot court competitions, seminars, and workshops. The course curriculum is relevant, but students are not ready to face it because of the poor teaching of some faculty members. Semester exams are comprehensive so students have to study well.
Other: Many things should be improved on campus. The library is open from 5 PM to 12 AM. It should be open 24 hours. Sometimes extra classes are conducted till 5:30 PM. Optional classes are conducted till 5 PM for 4th and 5th-year students. Hostel in timing is 10:30 PM for girls but boys are allowed 24 hours. Subject preference for the 5th year is not good so they should give an option for students to choose the honors subjects. Fests are not organised in our college after the pandemic but the upcoming batch might get the fest. Our college was famous for its fests. Scholarships are provided to SC, ST, and OBC students by the central and state governments.

Our college is good because the track to improvement is always open.
Placements: Our college had good placement records for both the pre and post-Covid eras. The salary package offered was 10 LPA to 25 LPA and the average salary package offered was 15 LPA. The thing that brings it down from 5 to 4 stars is the placement percentage. Only 30 to 40 students out of 180 were placed. That is not something to be disheartened about. The reason for this was that many students chose the judiciary and litigation, and internships provided a significant number of what are now secure PPOs.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of HNLU, although improving, was one of its downsides. Our hostels and academic buildings were not decently maintained. It's rather that HNLU had the largest campus out of all NLUs (65 acres), and approximately 60 to 70% of that area remains unused to date. Apart from this fact, the infrastructure was decent enough, and although the hostels were not good, a decent level of hygiene was maintained. The library was undoubtedly one of the best in the NLU system, with a ground floor filled with an excellent collection of books and two floors of air-conditioned reading halls. Our classrooms were well-lit and air-conditioned, but at the same time, they were a little compact for 60 students in a section. In the hostel, you get a single room with shared balconies throughout your 5-year course, which is not offered in almost all of the NLUs. The room, though small, would prove to be enough for you. The hostel washrooms were not decently maintained, but the major reason for that was the students using them and not the hostel staff. The mess was air-conditioned, bright, and spacious. The mess hall was top-notch, and hygiene was well-maintained.
Faculty: Our faculty members and curriculum were not good. Some faculty members put in a lot of effort to teach you. A large number of professors did the bare minimum to cover the course somehow. The selection of optional subjects and the scheduling of courses by semester were not what they should have been. The course curriculum was not designed in a way that would provide optimum benefit to students. The assessment method was very tiring and repetitive when it came to internal assessments.

Honest review about the course.
Placements: Approximately 60% students get placed from this course. The highest package is about 12 LPA, lowest is 9 LPA and the average is about 10 LPA. Top recruiting companies are AZB $ Partners, ICICI Bank, Induslaw, etc. Job roles offered by the company are Legal Analyst and criminal lawyer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very impressive and well-built. All the necessary types of facilities are available in the campus. There are separate libraries available for all the courses. Classroom is also very good and with bright colors. All kinds of facilities are provided by the hostel like a library, wi-fi, and medical.
Faculty: Teachers are beneficial and friendly in nature. Teachers are highly qualified and come from a strong background. The knowledge of the teachers is inspiring. Teaching quality is unique and they explain the concepts with real examples. The course is curriculum relevant and it makes the students industry-ready.

Review of HNLU Raipur - Hidayatullah National Law University.
Placements: Your hard work gets you a good placement. Students collect their own achievements. The highest placement package for the 2020 batch was about 18 LPA.
Infrastructure: You won't ever regret your decision to choose this college for any infrastructure issue, mess, or food issue. That food is not less than any good restaurant food. First-year hostel rooms are huge, and the hostel is spacious. From the second to the fifth year, the rooms are quite small, but there are no complaints about the infrastructure. Wi-Fi is available all the time. It doesn't work sometimes, but the problem gets resolved quickly. All the lecture halls have AC. HNLU's campus is on the outskirts of the city, so to compensate for that, we have a utility center, a food corner type, which wasn't open due to COVID protocols, and you can also order things at the mess. They have that facility.
Faculty: Faculty members are the best. If you concentrate in class, studying for one week before exams is enough. In HNLU, students have a habit of getting things molded according to their own preferences by way of protest and all. The university in itself isn't punctual regarding its work.

LL.M. in Corporate Law - Batch of 2020
5
5Placements5Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
LL. M. from HNLU: A journey with thrill.
Placements: Mainly, the students who get placed are from UG course but the creamy layer (most intellectual) students get placed from PG. As I'm a newcomer, I do not have exact information regarding the salaries so I prefer not mentioning the same. Banks, Corporate law firms, PSUs and various Companies hire students as Law officers, researchers, and sometimes for litigation as well. Students of LL. M. are not required to do an internship, but they need to submit their research report (dissertation) for which students need practical efforts with theoretical knowledge.
Infrastructure: Hostel and mess facilities: Students are provided double occupancy rooms in the hostel. But, if anyone is not comfortable with the same they can request the management for the single occupancy room paying some extra charges. The hostel rooms have not attached washroom. The common washroom is there for all, that is clean and hygienic and sufficient in numbers. Remember, the hotel is mandatory for all as it is a residential university. There are a separate hostel and mess for boys and girls. This time, the quality of food is quite satisfactory (one can survive eating that). Students pay about 34000 rupees for the mess per annum in which they provide for 4 meals per day, that is breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Administrative and Academic Building: The common administrative and Academic building is there which is identical to the parliament of India. There are some hybrid classrooms and some normal classrooms. All the classrooms have a step sitting system and those are fully air-conditioned. Medical facilities: As University takes 4000 rupees as medical fees, the doctor comes time to time within the campus. The University has an Ambulance for an emergency. Few common medicines are available in the hostel's first aid box. Sports and gymnasium: within the campus, there is a cricket ground, football ground, tennis court, volleyball court, badminton court, gymnasium separate for boys and girls etc.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are posted as an assistant professor and associate professor. Most of the teachers are helping and well qualified. They very politely coordinate with the students in the classroom so that one can easily raise a question before them and hence the classes are always interactive. Here the LL. M. course is of one year which is further divided into 3 trimesters. So the students of LL. M. have to rush towards the library from very starting. 75% attendance is must, there is no other alternative for the same.
Other: The University provides all kind of opportunities. One can choose by themselves in whichever way they wanna move.

The college provides a great overall learning experience.
Placements: Placements of HNLU are okay but either not very good or not very bad. Students who score good grades in academics can get decent placement offers while students who score less grades in academics have to struggle for placements. However, more often, not many such students remain unplaced. The average salary package offered in HNLU is somewhere between 6-7 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college provides all the necessary facilities for students. The campus is huge, and it has a football ground, a cricket field along with the recreational area. The library is huge in our college, and proper hygiene is maintained in the Cafeteria.
Faculty: Faculty members of the college are well-qualified and hold decades of experience in their respective field of subject, and they use the conventional teaching method to teach. The course curriculum contains all the necessary subjects, and students undergo internships as well to understand the practical applicability of their theoretical knowledge.

Admission FAQs

Q:   What are the minimum marks required for B.A. LL.B. at HNLU Raipur 2023?

A:

The minimum marks required to get admission to the B.A. LL.B course at Hidayatullah National Law university (HNLU) in Raipur Chattisgarh is to get an aggregate of more than 50% for general category candidates and about 45% aggregate for the reserved category candidates in their 10+2 . The candidates would also have to applear int CLAT examination and get about 80 or more than that in the exams .

It is advised that the candiates secures more marks than this so that if the university changes the criteria or any rules during their admission year then they would not be affected by the changes, implemented by the University. If they are at the brink of the eligibilty criteria and if the university changes them by even 5 percentage then their year would get wasted so it is rather advised to the candidates to secure more marks than the minimum required criteria set by the university.

Q:   What are the factors affecting CLAT cutoff 2024?

A:

Every year, the cut off marks for the CLAT exam are affected due to the following factors:

  • The difficulty level of the exam. In case the question paper is easy then the CLAT cut offs are expected to go high and vice-versa.
  • Total number of applications received. If the total applications received are less then the cut off is expected to be relaxed.
  • Total candidates qualifying CLAT exam. If the total number of qualifying candidates is less than the total seats then cut off goes low
  • Total number of seats. If the total number of seats is revised and increased then cut off is expected to remain low
  • Previous year cut offs. For the top NLUs, the cut-off marks in previous years were high, therefore, only topper candidates could make it for final admissions. Fore other NLUs, the cut off marks are relatively low.
