Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Is it worth pursuing B.E. / B.Tech at IES University?

A:
{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Pursuing BE/BTech at IES University

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of whether it's worth pursuing a BE/BTech at IES University:

Pros:

* Good placements: With over 150 companies visiting the campus, the university offers decent placements, especially for popular streams like IT and Core Engineering.
* Supportive faculty: While not all professors may have impressive teaching skills, many are knowledgeable and willing to help students.
* Excellent infrastructure: The university boasts modern classrooms, multiple libraries, computer labs, and a state-of-the-art digital zone sponsored by TCS.
* Internship opportunities: Although limited, around 5-10% of students receive internship offers from reputed companies.

Cons:

* Low salary packages: Placements mostly offer lower salary ranges, with the average being around INR5 Lacs per annum.
* Limited resources: Some students feel that the university could invest more in resources, such as books and equipment, to aid student growth.
* Confusing admin processes: Students report difficulties navigating administrative procedures, including payment issues and unclear policies.
* Unimpressive hostel facilities: While some students appreciate the hostel amenities, others find them subpar, citing poor food options and lack of medical facilities.

Verdict:
While IES University offers decent placements and infrastructure, students should weigh these pros against the cons mentioned above. If you're looking for a strong engineering programme with competitive salary packages, you might consider exploring other options. However, if you prioritize networking opportunities and a supportive community, IES University might be a suitable choice.

Remember, individual experiences may vary depending on your personal preferences and academic background. Research thoroughly and assess your priorities before making an informed decision.

Excellent campus facilities, but faculty needs improvement.
Placements: In our best college, 95% of students were placed in our course; the highest package was 30 LPA, the lowest was 5 LPA, and the average was 12 LPA. top recruiting companies included Google, Microsoft, and Amazon; 85% of students got internships with companies like IBM, Deloitte, and Infosys; and the top roles offered were software engineer, data scientist, and business analyst.
Infrastructure: Our best college offers state-of-the-art facilities including high-speed Wi-Fi, modern labs, smart classrooms, and a comprehensive library; the hostel provides comfortable rooms; the mess and canteen serve hygienic and diverse food; there are excellent medical facilities; and extensive sports and games amenities.
Faculty: The teachers at our best college are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and helpful, providing excellent teaching quality; the course curriculum is relevant and industry-oriented, making students industry-ready; semester exams are moderately challenging, with a pass percentage of 98%.
Other: I chose this course for its strong industry connections and cutting-edge curriculum; the best things about the course are the hands-on projects and expert faculty; improvements could include more elective options and industry internships; our college hosts vibrant events and festivals, has a diverse and energetic campus crowd, excellent connectivity, beautiful surroundings, offers scholarships, and a wide range of extracurricular activities.

Our college is good in infrastructure and quality of education.
Placements: There are no students who placed in our course. There are no schools and companies coming to our college for the campus, and they have to arrange the campus for students, but they have to do something for the other course also.
Infrastructure: The laboratories has no proper equipment, there is no proper class for the laboratory. The hostel is only for the first year students after this students have to shift to other place where they want to live. This college is outside from the city, and there is a proper bus facility for the students.
Faculty: The teaching quality is good. They teach students with proper guidance for the future. The exam paper is average, approximately every student can pass the exam very easily. They only give attention to the technical department, and they have to see the other departments which are also doing good.
Other: Our course is for the upcoming future of India so I am preparing myself for this young generation. There is a lack curriculum activities in our college so they have to work on that before taking any admission.

This is an honest review of the B.Sc. B.Ed. dual degree program from a girl's perspective.
Placements: I am a student in the B.Sc. B.Ed. integrated course at IES University, Bhopal. I have completed my first year and am now heading towards the beginning of the second year. Our batch is the first to join this course since its inception. Overall placements in the college are decent, and the competition is okay. Since our course began just one year ago, our batch will be the first to sit for placements. Placements for other courses are good and are increasing each year, so we expect good placements from our course too.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are very good, all equipped as smart classes with projectors, smart boards, and traditional chalkboards. LAN Wi-Fi is available in all departments throughout the college. The Wi-Fi speed is slightly low but sufficient for studying from YouTube. The library and labs are not up to par. The library is small and sometimes runs out of stock of curriculum books. Hostels are quite good with all amenities available at an affordable rate; there are three hostels in total, two for boys and one for girls. Hostel fees are 15k per semester. Sports grounds are available for almost all games on campus. There is also a swimming pool, though girls are not allowed to use it. The mess food is okay enough to survive on, but there is room for improvement. Some medical facilities are provided, mainly limited to first aid.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and friendly, although this varies from student to student. They are well qualified to teach their subjects. The curriculum is relevant and flexible. The Centralized Placement Cell (CPC) is active in preparing students for industry. However, students must put in their own effort too; one cannot rely solely on the CPC. Semester exams are easy; attending all classes ensures one is well-prepared, as most exam content comes directly from class notes. The passing percentage is low, at just 35%, which is achievable even with last-minute study.
Other: The main attraction of enrolling in this dual degree course is obtaining both degrees in the same timeframe. Improvements could be made to the mess food quality, as boys can eat outside but girls must stick with the poor quality mess food due to restrictions on leaving the hostel after 6 p.m. There are almost no college fests; occasional small events occur, mostly speeches by deans and professors. The crowd is decent and helpful. The campus has excellent connectivity, located near an important road where buses, taxis, and autos are easily accessible from the main gate. The campus surroundings resemble a construction site and barren fields, being in the suburbs of Bhopal. Scholarships and rewards are provided based on eligibility and academic performance, with MMVY and MPtaasc being popular scholarships available to almost all students.

I am not quite impressed by IES University.
Placements: No students were placed. Companies do not come here. There are no placements for B.Sc. B.Ed in IES college. One can become a teacher after this course.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite impressive. It has laboratories, library and many other facilities. Sports activities are good. The classrooms are quite good and impressive too. Smart classes are available. The canteen is not good enough.
Faculty: The teachers in our university are not permanent, and they are changed from time to time. But the faculty are very cooperative and have good knowledge about their subjects. The course makes the students industry-ready. The university conducts exams, and they are quite good.
Other: I have a passion for teaching, and I love teaching, that's why I chose this course. I wish my course to be more practical than theoretical because we are going to make a new generation educated, so for that, we have to be ready both mentally and physically. Many events were held during my college time. I was quite happy with my experience.

Integrated B.Sc. and B.Ed. Dual Degree Course Review.
Placements: The Batch of 2027 of the B.Sc. B.Ed. Integrated course is the first batch of this course. As we are the first batch to be enrolled in this course, we cannot comment about the placement; it is yet to be seen. But they are going to be good because IES University has the CPC or Centralized Placement Cell, which is responsible for all placement-related activities, so our placement will be done through the Centralized Placement Cell.
Infrastructure: All the labs are well-furnished and equipped with the latest equipment. The Computer Science department lab is the best lab on campus. It has been made in collaboration with TCS ION Digital. It is said to be one of the best labs among Bhopal city's colleges. The library is decent, with only curriculum books present there. Seating places for those who want to sit and study are also available, but the library is not big enough to handle all the crowd. Classrooms are new with modern furniture; there are smart classes in the college, equipped with smart boards and projectors. The hostels are 4-story buildings. There are 2 boys' hostels and 1 girls' hostel at present. The hostel fee is pretty high, Rs 15,000 per semester. Most people from out of the city choose to rent a room instead of living in the hostel as it is expensive and not that worthy. Although, they are top-notch constructed. They have 24/7 electricity and water supply. The mess food is not worthy to be eaten; people prefer to eat outside. There are private tiffin centers and mess nearby the college. There are two canteens in the college, with limited and expensive food items which taste bad. Only basic first aid is present in every building, but as IES Institute of Pharmacy and Nursing is also present inside the campus, one can go to them in time of need. All sports facilities are available, but there are no coaches to teach, nor do the students have interest in sports. The swimming pool is located inside the campus but opens occasionally. The majority of the time, school students from IES Public School are seen playing in the college premises with their coaches.
Faculty: The faculty is knowledgeable and qualified as well as helpful too. They often give us treats, they are supportive in nature and help us to grow in our respective fields. The course curriculum is relevant. As for the question of whether it makes us job-ready, it is yet to be seen as we are the first batch. Although teachers are good and the curriculum is up to date. The curriculum is a mix of both B.Sc. and B.Ed. courses, only having the useful content of both courses. The toughness of semester exams is negligible, and one can easily pass the exam after just one night of study. As the passing percentage is just 35%, the teachers often give grace marks to students who cannot secure 35% marks.
Other: The course is definitely value for money as it offers two degrees to its disciplines at the price of one. And this is the best thing about this course. The thing I wish to be better/improved is the lack of practical knowledge it offers to students. The smart classes are rarely used by teachers, labs are there but we are rarely taken there. Events are not very frequent, fests happen just once or twice a year, hence college life is not so great, and the crowd of the campus is the same. The campus surroundings are in the developing suburb of Bhopal city, connectivity is very good, the campus is located on the main road. It provides better connectivity to the city. There is just a 20-25 min ride to reach the center of the city. There are not that many extracurricular activities in the college. Scholarships like Mukhya Mantri Medhavi Yojana and MPTAASC are there to assist the needy ones but they are reserved for the natives of M.P. only. Mukhya Mantri Medhavi is a scheme in which all the course fees are paid by M.P. government. The eligibility for this is to secure 85% in CBSE or 75% in Madhya Pradesh State Board class 12th exam. MPTAASC is only for category students.
