MERI MUMBAI - Marine Engineering

Placements: The campus has a good placement record. Companies like Fleet Management, Pacific Basin, MSC, etc., do come for placement. 100% placement of my batch (leaving me). Especially for female cadets, there are more than one option, but the prerequisite is no back papers.

Average college life of a marine.

Placements: The placement cell has done well to get big names on campus. The students have immense exposure to the field. Almost each student is placed at the end of four years. Placement starts in the first year itself. A cadet just has to score well and clear exams.

Absolutely dissatisfied overall.

Placements: They promise that most of the students will get placed by the 3rd year but that's not the case. Out of 240, only around 60 are placed. The on campus ship that other reviewers talk about, it is just a way of earning money. The unplaced students have to mandatory finish their Internship on the "Ship-in-Campus" to get their degrees and the college charges around Rs 2,50,000 for that. There are no "top roles" that are offered. Everyone joins as a Cadet.

Placements dropped down to a very low mark in recent years.

Placements: The percentage of students that were placed in my batch was around 80% which has been relatively reduced because of the recession in industry and college coming under the IMU from the year 2016. Companies like Maersk, NYK, Chevron do come for recruitments offering salary from 20,000 to 30,000 in starting as an internship cadet. Recruitments are done for cadet internship and depending on his/her dedication he can rise up to Chief engineer (For engineering department) and Captain (For nautical eng...

The best college for marine which has all infrastructure and all required facility with fully experienced and well trained faculty. This college also gives 100 placement. The college also has its own ship in the campus for better practical understanding of students.

Best college for the marine engineering course in India which offers best practical training. Teachers here are very good, you learn a lot. Hostel life is good. College is much disciplined. You have to get up early and exercise be punctual or get punished. College is very strict about its rules and regulations, better abide all or you're in trouble. Campus has all the facilities. All sports are played. Although it’s situated in the outskirts of Pune, but it is worth if you want to do marine engi...

The first thing I would say is, about the course. Don't study Marine Engineering until and unless you know about your future lies in it. If money is the only thing you need (nothing else, absolutely nothing), then you can choose this course. As a mariner, you will earn a lot after just 2 years of your career guaranteed but the fun, you may not like it. You will be within the ship for a very long period of stay, that you may start hating yourself (if you are an outdoor person). Please don't dream...
